Baldur's Gate 3 developer asks fans to "please stop" sending threats over upcoming mod support

All things are not equal in the world of’s companions with some getting significantly more love than others. With 10 potential companions to recruit, it’s hardly surprising that some have had a little more attention and care put into them than others. However, when the numbers are actually broken down, the discrepancies become staggeringly obvious, leaving some companions clear winners and others the losers.

Larian Studios has released a new hotfix for Baldur’s Gate 3, available on PC, PS5 and Mac. Unfortunately, it’s still being tested for Xbox Series X/S alongside hotfix 20 due to an exclusive “crash bug.” The developer will investigate and resolve the issue, but until then, cross-saves from platforms with the latest hotfixes won’t be loadable on Xbox Series X/S.

As we’ve covered multiple times on the site, video games are slowly being accepted into other mediums beyond the gaming space. For example, Nintendo has made a literal theme park celebrating Mario and will have Donkey Kong and others join him soon. Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian Studios has called on the game’s community to cease what it called “threats and toxicity” over mod support, insisting conversations around new features “take time”.

The developer of Baldur's Gate 3 has given an update on mod support while reminding fans that toxicity toward its progress "will only harm the conversation."

Larian Studios announced that it's working on official mod support for Baldur's Gate 3 last week, even bringing them to consoles. For now, they're unofficial third-party add-ons developed by the community, which means that when official updates roll out for the game itself, they often break. That's par for the course with modding, but some fans are sending threats to Larian over it.
