The next title in Ubisoft's long-running Assassin's Creed franchise seems to have had a version of its main menu leaked online. Assassin's Creed Red will see the series set foot in ancient Japan for the very first time, something fans have been wishing for Ubisoft to do for years. Red will also kick off Assassin's Creed Infinity, a sort of hub which will house several large Assassin's Creed games for years to come. Fans seem to be split on Ubisoft's decision to have a Call of Duty HQ-esque structure for a series of single-player experiences, and it's still not clear what exactly Assassin's Creed Infinity will entail.
First announced at a 2022 Ubisoft Forward alongside Assassin's Creed Hexe and the Assassin's Creed Jade mobile game, Red caught the attention of fans with its ancient Japanese setting and its promise to provide players a «very powerful shinobi fantasy.» Even more exciting is the game's main development studio, Ubisoft Quebec, which is known for creating fan favorites Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flagand Assassin's Cred Odyssey. Like many past Assassin's Creed titles, Red is heavily rumored to give players control of dual protagonists, a female shinobi assassin, and a male samurai, many of whom believe to be the historical figure Yasuke.
It seems that Assassin's Creed Red's main menu may have leaked online. Originally posted to r/GamingLeaksAndRumors, the photo of Red's alleged main menu has since been mysteriously removed. The menu prominently displays a black and red background which features two characters that seem to confirm Assassin's Creed Red's recent rumors: a female assassin and a male samurai. The menu clearly appears to be a work-in-progress, as text is randomly littered on the top and bottom of the screen.
Interestingly, players will seemingly have the ability to choose their character from the main menu. It's unknown if players will also be able to do so on the fly while in the game, as having to back out to the main menu each time may likely cause annoyances for players. There's also a «Select Season» option on Red's main menu, indicating that the game is likely to have seasonal content that players will be able to swap between at will. Additionally, a «Play Demo» option is included as well, which hints that Ubisoft could possibly be planning to put out a demo sometime around Assassin's Creed Red's full release.
Ubisoft has just recently revealed that Star Wars Outlaws is coming on August 30, and it also has a Ubisoft Forward locked in for June 10. It's there that Assassin's Creed fans can expect to learn more about Red, potentially about its release date which, judging by the Star Wars Outlaws news, may be later on in Fall 2024.
Bandai Namco has revealed its roadmap for Tekken 8 throughout the rest of 2024, including the game’s second DLC character, new story, and plenty more.
A recent Genshin Impact leak revealed key information about Clorinde and Sigewinne's ability kits, and it may have some bad news for players who were hopeful about Sigewinne's potential as a 5-Star Hydro character. Since launch, Genshin Impact has considered Hydro to be a premium element, as many of the game's best Elemental Reactions are locked behind having a Hydro character on the team. As a result, the number of 4-Star Hydro characters remains limited even after the launch of Fontaine.
By now, Game of Thrones stands as one of the most colossal franchises, so it is no wonder that it has spawned numerous spinoffs. Recently, a creator from a shelved spinoff revealed insights into what might have unfolded in the series.
As an Assassin's Creed girlie, I enjoyed Assassin's Creed Mirage, a pared down (but still big game, which is really just proof of how bloated AAA games have gotten, but I'll stop because it's not time to take my personal bugbear for a walk) Ass Creed game that was closer to the simplicity of the older games in the stab 'em up stealth-action series. Yesterday creative director Stéphane Boudon and art director Jeal-Luc Sala took to Reddit for an AMA, and in response to a question about plans for Mirage DLC, Boudon said no - but that they have ideas for more stories for Basim.
Assassin's Creed Mirage launched in October last year, offering a pared back, back-to-the basics experience reminiscent of older games in the series. The action-adventure title from Ubisoft took players to 9th-century Baghdad, putting them in the shoes of Basim Ibn Ishaq, a street thief who joins the Hidden Ones and rises through the ranks to become a master assassin. While there's no word on if the franchise will revisit the character again, Assassin's Creed Mirage creative director has said that the team has ideas about where Basim's story could go.
Assassin's Creed Hexe, which is currently a code name and is set to launch after the Japan-set Assassin's Creed Red, is the subject of a new report from Insider Gaming, which claims the title is aiming for a release in 2026. You'll apparently be playing as a female protagonist called Elsa, who comes equipped with supernatural abilities. One of which is said to be the ability to control cats, with footage sent to the outlet supposedly depicting a chase sequence where the player distracts guards by taking control of a feline.
Assassin’s Creed Codename Red is the series’ next mainline instalment, but we also know what’s next after the Japan-set game. Alongside Red, in 2022, Ubisoft also announced Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe, a game that, as per reports, is set in Central Europe and focuses on the witch trials during the 16th century. Now, new potential details on the title have emerged courtesy of a report published by Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson.
For some time now, we’ve known Ubisoft has two big Assassin’s Creed projects in the works – the more traditional Japanese ninja and samurai epic Codename Red, and the more experimental Codename Hexe. In development at Ubisoft Montreal, we know Assassin’s Creed Hexe will be a “different type of game” with a dark witchcraft-focused storyline and perhaps a more linear structure, but beyond that, we haven’t heard much about what’s cooking.
Assassin's Creed Hexe's protagonist will possess magical abilities, such as a way to possess cats, and to manage some form of fear system, according to a recent report. Assassin's Creed Hexe has only received a teaser trailer so far, leaving much to the rumor mill and speculation, but it seems to take place during the 16th-century Witch Hunts of the Holy Roman Empire.
As many fans know, Assassin's Creed Red has been the codename for the franchise's open-world RPG set in Feudal Japan. Sometimes these code names carry implications about a title, such as Assassin's Creed Valhalla's codename being Kingdoms, representing the game's structure. Unfortunately, all that can really be derived from Assassin's Creed Red is its setting in Japan. However, now a leaker has claimed that the real title of Assassin's Creed Red is Assassin's Creed Shadows, which does carry some interesting implications for the title.
Wolverine #48 brings part 8 of the Sabretooth War storyline. With just two issues left in both the title and story, which both conclude in May's Wolverine #50, Logan is healing up in bed after a fight with Sabretooth, who has built a whole army of his own Variants to kill Wolverine and everyone he loves.
Eivor's Raven Clan outfit from Assassin's Creed Valhalla has become available for Assassin's Creed Mirage players to redeem and equip with Basim. Assassin's Creed Valhalla, which was released back in 2020, was Ubisoft's latest large-scaled RPG-style Assassin's Creed game. Set during the Viking age of Anglo-Saxon England, Valhalla introduced a new assassin, named Eivor, who was part of the Raven Clan.
