could be here sooner than anyone expected. The successor to 2017's, lands somewhere between a remake, a remaster, and a reimagining of the original game. It follows the classic survival formula, with players crafting weapons, equipment, and homes to defend themselves against dinosaurs, mythical creatures, and other hostile players. Its unique twist, though, is that some of those megafauna can be tamed to aid in daily life or enemy base raiding.
was first revealed to be under development in March 2023. It's a separate entity from, the planned sequel to the original game now set for release in late 2024. Further information provided at the October 25, 2023, Xbox Partner Preview suggests a more concrete release date, as well as a better understanding of what's different about the game this time around.

was released for PC on October 25, 2023, with all console releases planned for November 2023, andis available now for purchase and download through Steam. It's technically still in early access, and according to its Steam page, should remain that way until the end of 2024. That coincides with 's planned release date, so the two games should both be up and running at about the same time.
Some content is missing from during its early access period, including game modes Survival of the Fittest, Scorched Earth, Aberration, Extinction, and both parts of Genesis. All six of 's free expansions are also currently absent:,,,,, and DLC are not available in the remake. However, this is only a temporary state of affairs, and each of these will probably be added during the course of the early access period as their kinks are worked out.
But this is more than a graphical overhaul of the original game (although it is that, too). has also implemented a wide variety of gameplay changes, ranging from minor to major. The first, and perhaps the most exciting, is cross-platform modding. had a huge modding community, and is expected to be much the same. However, where mods were once only available to players on PC, they'll now be available to all, regardless of what platform they're on. This is accomplished with the help of the in-game mod browser CurseForge, which can be accessed from the main menu.
Those who want to create their own mods will have to download the Ark Devkit from the Epic Games Launcher.

Ark: Survival Ascended's Xbox & PS5 Versions Are Worth Waiting For
still hasn't released on the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5, but holding out just a little longer to see the console launch should be worth the wait. Initially slated for an August 2023 release, was pushed back to an October window that the PC version ultimately landed. Last-minute problems discovered in the Xbox and PS5 versions, however, pushed them back to November. The Xbox version is currently on track for a November 14 release, while the PS5 port isn't going to appear until the end of the month.
