The original spent its first couple of years of availability as an early access title on Steam before an official launch that brought it to consoles. The PlayStation 5 release of is confirmed in Studio Wildcard's announcement of the Steam launch on the official website, confirming that the port will be targeting the same November window as the Xbox Series S/X version of the game. As explained in the post, it would already be out on both platforms were it not for issues identified the night before the Steam release, which forced the delay due to apparently significant impact on console multiplayer. The delay will also be used to reach greater parity with the PC version, which had more time for improvements in the later stages of development.

is currently encountering a mixed reception on Steam, mostly due to performance issues that are cropping up on even powerful systems. Although high-end PCs are technically the most capable machines for gaming, optimization on PC can be much more scattershot, so it seems likely that the console versions could see a more stable release with better performance. Studio Wildcard will likely be working on the PC issues in the meantime, but it may take some time for the Steam release to meet satisfying standards for stability on the average system.
