Terra Memoria is a cosy RPG with a gorgeous pixel art style and crunchy turn-based combat, and it's «coming soon» to PS5. We got a new gameplay trailer teasing the kind of adventure interested players can look forward to, one filled with anthropomorphic animal people like a bearded rhino, or a lute-playing sloth.
Developed by Dear Villagers, purveyors of fine video games like The Forgotten City, The Dungeon Of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet Of Chaos, and the upcoming Fort Solis, Terra Memoria looks similarly high quality, and a game we'll be keeping an eye on. With a focus on exploration and puzzle solving, a cast of colourful characters, and turn-based battles to engage in, this one might appeal to those after something a bit lighter than the usual AAA fare.
What do you think of Terra Memoria, does it look like your cup of tea? Solve your problems in an orderly fashion in the comments section below.
Khayl Adam is the second best video game journalist Australia has ever produced, and his ambitions of world domination have (thus far) been curbed by the twin siren songs of strategy games and CRPGs. He has always felt an affinity for the noble dachshund, the best kind of dog.
Is that pixel art? I like pixel art. Get the checkbook.
Interesting direction to go in after Forgotten City. That was a great game so will check this out at some point.
Imagine spending 500$ in a ps5 to play a gameboy colour game lmao
looks pleasant enough to me and the art style is interesting enough to add it to a watch list.
@Neptunes imagine $500 just play COD (which is generic every iteration and is over in less time than a family dinner). Some people like this sort of game.
Horses for courses and all that.
The UI is a real mess of visuals. Some pixel icons, some vector. Some textured backplates some flat colour. No pixel fonts. Modern, clean vector shapes in a fantasy themed world.
Honestly, the UI is a big part of this genre, it's disappointing to see it not get more thought and attention. The rest looks nice enough though.
@PSme Pretty sure that gameboy colour cant run COD. Also what a dumb comparison as with COD you dont pay for a game with graphics from 2008.
@Neptunes I think you're missing the point here. People will buy whatever console they want, to play the games they want, irrespective of what you think.
Yes, you may feel that it's ludicrous to have purchased a high-value console just to play pixel art or graphically 'aged' games, but other people do not.
Your analogy about this game looking like a GBC game is also inaccurate; it looks better than that, but I also understand your attempt, which was to say that the game doesn't look advanced or sufficiently «4k enough» to be worthy of being on a PS5.
Or words to that effect.
