Despite being one of the most successful games released by Remedy Entertainment, Alan Wake II still hasn't recouped its expenses, according to a new financial report.
In the company's financial statement for the first quarter of 2024, Remedy Entertainment confirmed how the second entry in the series, which sold 1.3 million copies as of this February, still hasn't recouped development and marketing costs. It has to be said, however, that it shouldn't be too far from doing so, as most of the investment was said to be recouped last month.

One way Remedy Entertainment could increase Alan Wake II's sales on PC is by releasing the game on Steam, which is extremely unlikely, given how Epic Games has funded development. Remedy was asked about a possible Steam release during yesterday's Q&A session, but the answer doesn't really leave the door open, as a release on other PC storefronts is a "speculation" the studio cannot do.
On a related note, as reported by GamesIndustry, Tencent has increased its shareholding investment in the Alan Wake II developer, increasing its stake from 5% to 14%. The Chinese conglomerate is also co-financing Remedy's free-to-play co-op multiplayer game Vanguard, so the increase in investment isn't particularly surprising.
Alan Wake II is now available on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. Learn more about one of the best games released last year in my review.
With its excellent trippy horror story, memorable characters, amazing atmosphere, and some of the best visuals in gaming to date, Alan Wake II is a game like few others and Remedy Entertainment's best. It took 13 years for the acclaimed writer to come back, but the long wait was worth it. We could have hardly wished for a better sequel, despite the derivative survival horror gameplay holding the experience back a bit.

We all know how the Android 15 beta has been out and about for some time now, and a lot of people are enjoying it on their Pixel devices. In order to make sure that the Galaxy S24 users are not left behind, Samsung has also started the development of One UI 7.0 beta, which will be based on the latest version of Android. Do keep in mind that the beta program is still a couple of months away from going official but it is good to know that the development has started.
Supergiant Games’ Hades 2 is available in early access for PC via Steam (currently rated “Overwhelmingly Positive”) and the Epic Games Store. While there’s currently no end date for early access, there’s more than enough content to make it worthwhile for the time being.
It might seem like a boastful name, but Rockstar Games really are rockstars in the gaming world. The developer is responsible for arguably the most important and lucrative gaming franchise of all time with the Grand Theft Auto series. While the open-world crime series is what the studio is best known for, it has dipped its toes into a wide range of genres and styles as a publisher since its first game in 1997. While the studio’s output has certainly slowed, with an over eight-year gap between Red Dead Redemption 2and GTA 6, there’s a backlog of over 40 games in its portfolio. That’s a lot of history to digest, but it’s important to understand the entire scope before we decide which games are the best.

Two iconic video game characters join the Xbox Game Pass lineup this May: Lara Croft and an adorable little kitty. Sure, one character definitely has more brand name recognition over the other, but it’s hard to resist the adoring gaze of a big-eyed black cat. This month, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition and the charming indie game Little Kitty, Big City enter the catalog of games available for free on Xbox Games Pass.
