Alan Wake 2’s Music Has Been “Taken to the Next Level,” Director Says

Remedy has revealed the full system requirements to run its highly-anticipated sequel, Alan Wake 2, on PC.

With Alan Wake 2 now mere days away from launch, Remedy Entertainment is beginning to gear up for its arrival by sharing new details on its release. Having recently revealed its exact global release timings, the developer has now also shared the survival horror sequel’s full PC requirements.

From Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to Forza Motorsport and many others, October has been packed full of major new releases- and there’s still more to look forward to, especially in the shape of Alan Wake 2, one of the most highly anticipated upcoming games, which is out in a week’s time.

Remedy Entertainment has never been a studio that likes to sit still with its creative works, and true to form, Alan Wake 2 looks set to be delivering yet another game by the developer that’s quite unique from most of its previous offerings. A lot of that will be down to it being Remedy’s first ever survival horror game, and in a new behind-the-scenes video, the developer has offered more insight into how it crafted the sequel’s gameplay experience to fit its new genre.

Developer Remedy Entertainment has released a new video on the way to Alan Wake 2‘s release later this month. The video offers up a recap of the events of the original Alan Wake to help players that may not have played the predecessor to the upcoming horror title. Check it out below.

Who had ‘playable remake of Alan Wake inside Fortnite’ on their 2023 bingo card? Nobody? Well, nevermind: either way, you can now relive the events of Remedy’s battery-powered horror game before its sequel comes out later this month.

The survival horror genre has enjoyed a massive resurgence in recent years, and though it’s seen a few notable successes in recent years, one in particular that tends to stand out is 2019’s Resident Evil 2 remake. Widely regarded as being key to the genre’s recent revival, the RE2 remake has inspired a number of survival horror titles of late, including Remedy Entertainment’s upcoming Alan Wake 2.

Remedy Entertainment is set to deliver its first full-fledged survival horror title when Alan Wake 2 launches later this month, and there’s no shortage of excitement around the brand of horror that the acclaimed studio will deliver. Remedy has previously said that its primary focus has been on building atmosphere and slow-paced dread rather than peppering the experience with jump scares, and in a recent interview with GamingBolt, game director Kyle Rowley touched on that once more.

Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake 2 is out next week, but it’s been in the works for several years, never mind the time it took for the developer to get the idea green-lit. Compared to its predecessor, this is a survival horror title with more methodical pacing. Remedy is known for its high-octane combat from Max Payne to the more recent Control.

Leading up to the October 27 release date for Alan Wake 2, developer Remedy has worked with Epic Games to create a playable recap for the original Alan Wake. The 20-minute recap can be played through Fortnite, and serves as a refresher for the events of the original game.

Remedy Entertainment is releasing Alan Wake 2 next week, on October 27, and while there's still time to replay (or play for the first time) Alan Wake before its sequel is out, October is a stacked month, and time might not be on your side. Alan Wake: Flashback might help, though, as it's a new Unreal Editor for Fortnite experience that gives players the chance to relive the mysteries and events of the first Alan Wake, albeit presumably in a much shorter and more streamlined fashion.
