The Afflicted Mythic+ affix is significantly bugged with the release of Patch 10.2.5, causing Afflicted to be real targets for boss mechanics and even Aug Evoker buffs!
Afflicted Bugged in Patch 10.2.5
It seems like Afflicted are now real and valid NPCs for boss targeting but also auto-targeted abilities. This seems likely due to the implementation of Follower Dungeons in Patch 10.2.5 as enemies and friendlies need to now be able to target and hit NPCs. However, this has caused some significant issues for Mythic+ dungeons.
Augmentation «Nerf»
Unfortunately, Afflicted is now a valid NPC for Augmentation Evoker auto-targeting, causing you to waste buffs if you're unlucky enough to buff near an Afflicted NPC.
Log Example
Afflicted are now a real target and accept buffs from:
- Ebon Might
- Inferno's Blessing
- Shifting Sands
- Shattered Conduit when auto-targeting
- Zephyr (Unconfirmed but reported)
Boss Mechanics
This also has effects on many boss mechanics and Afflicted spawns are now valid targets for creatures. This has good and bad news:
- Good news: Sometimes this takes away a mechanic that a player would have to do, and if it dies you don't have to dispel it.
- Bad news: This sometimes has a very bad impact on certain bosses causing more damage, extra mechanics or causing players to fail a mechanic.
We haven't confirmed all of these, but here are some of the reported abilities that Afflicted spawns now interact with:
- Rezan's Pursuit and Devour (Source)
- Alunza's Tainted Blood (Source)
- Yazma's Soulrend and spawning an extra add (Source)
- Morchie's Time Traps
- Blight of Galakrond's Corrosion (Source)
There are surely more, but these are just a small snippet of who these may impact your run.
