Activision has quickly taken action to resolve the player ban issue within Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III caused by using cloud services.
A few hours ago, gamers reported that they were facing bans for playing Activision's latest AAA title, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. The issue was caused by running the game through cloud services such as GeForce Now where the game along with Modern Warfare II and Warzone had landed just a day prior.
PSA: Do not play Call of Duty via NVIDIA GeForce NOW for now. There appears to be some glitch where players are being banned in game after it’s detecting playing via cloud as cheating device.

Activision was quick to respond to this issue and has quickly issued a statement in which the game publisher confirms that the issue has now been fully resolved and the bans across the player accounts which were affected have been rolled back which means that they can continue playing the game as usual. Although this ban was inconvenient for many gamers who were enjoying the game and were booted out for several hours, it is good to see that the problem has been taken care of.
The rollback for players impacted by this issue has been completed.

Gamers have recently faced various bans from using technologies from GPU makers such as the GeForce Now cloud-based system or AMD's Anti-Lag+. The Anti-Lag+ technology is yet to see a full resolution and it has been more than a month since the feature got rolled back for causing in-game player bans across various games including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Counter-Strike 2 and Apex Legends (to name a few).
The reason for the ban was very different than the issue with cloud services such as GeForce Now. What happened was that Anti-Lag+ modified the game files without prior acknowledgment to game devs and while players who were affected got unbanned, they are yet to see the relaunch of Anti-Lag+ which is an essential technology for multiplayer titles similar to NVIDIA's Reflex which helps reduce input lag and latency.

The former NPD Group (now named “Circana”) has released its full North American sales data for November, typically the biggest gaming month of the year, and surprisingly, the results weren’t that great. Players spent $5.9 billion on games, additional content, and hardware in November, a 9 percent year-on-year decrease. This was largely driven by a 24 percent drop in hardware spending, with all consoles being down double digits year-on-year. The PlayStation 5 was the #1 console, followed by the Xbox Series X/S, with the Switch really dropping off this season. It seems like inflation, and rumors that a new Switch is right around the corner, likely impacted hardware sales this year.

Over the years, Call of Duty campaigns have delivered the closest distillation of Michael Bay-style cinematic set piece action in video games. The first-person military shooter franchise, perhaps the most popular series of games in the world, has increasingly tilted in favour of its money-spinning multiplayer modes, with gradual introduction of battle passes, microtransactions, and downloadable content, but some of its single player campaigns remain a benchmark for bombastic sequences in the medium. Memorable missions from Call of Duty titles are part of gaming folklore — the raw shock of a nuclear detonation, the tense deliberations of a ghillied-up sniper, and the disturbing implications of a false flag terror attack; CoD campaigns have sustained their commitment to over-the-top, knockout moments with imaginative mission design, the “Oorah” machismo of American military might, and immersive cinematics that punctuate the action.
