10 TOUGH Levels That Kicked Your Butt In 2023

Through Feb. 8, Nintendo is cutting prices on Switch physical and digital games, many of which are must-play titles that belong in everyone’s collection. In case you missed out on Switch game deals close to Black Friday, this sale is a little different. It includes fewer first-party Nintendo games, but in some ways it’s actually more impressive, looping in a more diverse swath of games that Switch owners should nevertheless check out.

While I wouldn’t say I’m bad at games by any stretch, I know a game I’ll be bad at when I see one. NanoApostle is one such game, and the frenetic boss rush actioner from developer18Light Game (Pronty) is due out on PC in summer 2024. 

Palworld, the survival game where you recruit adorable Pokémon-like creatures and send them to fight or work, has been out for four days and is already a massive hit. On Monday morning, the Early Access version of the game reached over 1.5 million concurrent players on Steam, making it the most-played game on the platform and marking the third highest number of concurrent players on the platform of all time. The statistic doesn’t even include players who downloaded the game via Xbox Game Pass, meaning its overall active player base is likely much larger. According to its developer, Pocketpair, the game sold over 5 million copies in three days.

Joel seems a decent choice if you're delving into No Return, The Last of Us Part 2's brand-new roguelike mode. With a powerful custom revolver, an upgraded melee weapon, and a shiv (plus a recipe to craft more), his is the best starting loadout of all. Unfortunately, he also has the biggest disadvantage: he can't dodge.

We heard last week that Diablo IV Season 3 would be dropping this month, and today Blizzard fully unveiled what that update will entail. Diablo IV: Season of the Construct has a steampunk-ish theme, with new mechanical enemies, and allies, being added to the game. Players will be able to battle side-by-side with an AI “Seneschal Companion,” which you can customize the way you like. You can also delve into the challenging new Vaults, a type of dungeon that will offer big rewards if you can get through them without dying too many times. The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered officially brings the popular Naughty Dog game to PlayStation 5 with a number of enhancements, including visual upgrades, a new roguelike mode, and a variety of fresh features that returning players may be interested in checking out. Old School Runescape players are on another level, man. The game's flooded with zero-sum games where the house always wins: yet compared to the person who gathered 1 million of the same crappy fish, this is small pennies.
