has a ton of main faction quests, sidequests, and activities players can partake in over the game's 1,000-planet universe. While many of these will be clearly detailed in the mission log, others happen somewhat randomly in the game. One of the main places these random interactions occur is while in space. However, these scenarios are easy to miss, especially for those not accepting incoming transmissions. While some are rather innocuous jokes — like a ship that repeatedly requests whether the protagonist wants to extend the ship's warranty — others have a little more substance and even side missions associated with them.
While some random space encounters are hard to come by, that's really what makes them so great and unique since there is no foolproof method to trigger the interactions, at least discovered so far. This adds some variety and flavor to the game, especially for those tired of looking at quick travel screens. Instead, one needs to explore the star systems across the in-game world of to come across some of these random space encounters.

For those who enjoy a little ego boost, Faraday's Budget Tours will leave them gleaming after the conversation. This tour ship is visiting different parts of the Settled Systems, and an exasperated tour guide will reach out as the passengers hope to speak to a «real ship captain.» Regardless of the answers provided, the protagonist will be rewarded with credits, making it a nice little payday for an easy interstellar interview.

Even though it's one of the oldest jokes in the book, Bethesda couldn't help but include a joke about the unfortunate naming of the planet Uranus. It seems even three hundred years in the future, humans still haven't evolved their sense of humor, as the random space encounter sees the protagonist get an incoming transmission from a random Freestar ship. Upon answering, the caller will ask, "" As expected, regardless of the response, it results in a laugh or exasperated sigh, depending on the person.
The Party Cruise spaceship is akin to the modern-day party bus and contains a bunch of stargazers sipping on libations. While there isn't any associated questline or rewards, it's possible to dock the ship and join in on the festivities. Interacting with the captain will allow turning off the gravity, greatly enhancing the atmosphere of the party.
Floating randomly out in space is a Freestar Collective ship that may dupe some into interacting with it. However, the captain's tone on board is anything but welcoming — and if one decides to dock, one will find a huge group of Spacers that have commandeered and taken over the vessel.
