A new Yuzu build released today expands on a feature recently introduced in the emulator to give users additional VRAM management options for better performance in games.
The Early Access 4150 build introduces additional VRAM options with a toggle found in the Graphics Advanced options. The Conservative option allows the emulator to use 7 GB of VRAM at native resolution, allowing more VRAM depending on the scaling value, the higher the value, the more VRAM allowed. This prevents the emulator from slowing down when used with other programs that require VRAM.
The Aggressive option, on the other hand, is best used with games using resolution mods, as it allows the use of 7/8 of the available VRAM, reducing stuttering from cleaning VRAM constantly. This option is recommended with resolution mods without scaler, using high-resolution scaling inside the emulator, and when there's no other program running that requires VRAM.
As this new feature is only available in the latest Yuzu Early Access build, only Patreon supporters can test it out. It doesn't take long for Early Access features to get added to the public build if it works correctly, so these new VRAM management options should become available for everyone soon enough.
