Henry Cavill's time as Geralt may have come to an end but enthusiasts wanting to continue his adventure in can now do so with a shockingly accurate visual mod. Following the announcement that Cavill would step into the role of the titular Witcher in Netflix's live-action series, fans of the books and video games were skeptical about his portrayal. Yet after proving his commitment to the role, a large portion of the community now views his face as the default Geralt.
Per a post by Bjorn18 over on Nexus Mods, a team of dedicated players finally released a mod that they insist adds the most realistic depiction of Cavill's Geralt in and based on the screenshots, they may just be right.
One of the developers responsible for the mod who goes byDraiamond worked on carefully building a character model based on the actor for three years, reportedly going through several different iterations before finally landing on a face with which they were satisfied. It's worth noting that while the mod is in a stable state some hairstyles can result in some visual hitches.
While Netflix's adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski's novels has received middling reviews since its first season, one thing upon which both fans and critics agree is Cavill's portrayal of protagonist Geralt. The actor has earned plenty of praise for his performance which he insists comes from a place of understanding given his love of universe. It came as a shock to many when he announced that he would not be returning to the role for the show's fourth season.
The reasoning behind his departure has never been confirmed butit's speculated that Cavill didn't appreciate series making alterations to Sapkowski's story. Other theories posit that the actor was gearing up to return as Superman in the DC Extended Universe, an opportunity that was cut short by James Gunn's announcement of a rebooted franchise. Liam Hemsworth will portray Geralt in all future seasons of .
As for , CD Projekt Red's fantasy game is still revered as one of the best RPGs ever made thanks to its captivating writing, quest design, and world-building. The story follows Geralt as he attempts to track down his adoptive daughter Ciri who is being pursued by an evil force known as The Wild Hunt. The developer is currently working on a fourth game in the franchise but next to nothing is known about its development.

Buckshot Roulette is simple, and simply unsettling. Sat across the table from a mysterious opponent clad in a deeply unnerving toothy mask, you pick up a shotgun loaded with shells. Then, you decide whether to point the gun at your opponent or yourself, and pull the trigger. Some of the shells are live, and others are blanks. Guess correctly, and you get to go again.
Windows handhelds like the ROG Ally have specs that put the Steam Deck to shame, but are let down by Windows being terrible as a handheld operating system. So, what if you could have the best of both worlds?
The deck-fixing roguelikelike poker of Balatro is chuffing excellent, no doubt, but my main criticism has been that the higher difficulty modes are just a bit boring. Having beat them myself, I didn't find them a fun or interesting challenge as much as an annoying one that required too much to go right. I'm glad to hear that they're being tweaked in an upcoming patch, which you can now test in a public beta on Steam, and even the lowest difficulty setting will be tweaked. Other changes include improved (hopefully) Steam Deck performance, balance tweaks, and better Joker-related Tags.
may have left the franchise's fan base divided but those who may have slept on the game and want to check it out before the release of the Amazon Prime TV series now have the perfect opportunity to do so. Releasing in 2018 to overwhelmingly negative reviews due to its unfinished state, is regarded as the black sheep of the series with many insisting it doesn't count as a mainline entry in the series. Despite this, there's still fun to be found in the wilds of West Virginia thanks to some excellent post-launch support from Bethesda.
Goodbye, App Store Suika Game clones. The real thing has finally arrived on iOS for players outside of Japan. Suika Game, the watermelon puzzle game that went viral on Nintendo Switch last year, is available to download for $2.99 on Apple’s App Store, making it playable on iPhone and iPad. The title for the official version is “Suika Game-Aladdin X” and it comes from XGIMI Limited.
RPS was on holiday yesterday, which is fortuitous timing because it was April 1st and it meant we missed all the "jokes" (lies) the games industry likes to spread on that day each year.
I, a fool, created my Dragon's Dogma 2 character with the aim of being a wizened wizardly type, focused on the mysterious Trickster build. Since then, however, I've come to the conclusion that I should have been an archer, a decision cemented by the existence of one particular ability - the Martyr's Bolt.
It’s the most annoying day of the yeeeeear – yes, in case you haven’t looked at the calendar and are wondering why everyone’s gone crazy, today is April Fools Day. While some gags are fun enough (CDPR’s floppy disc edition of Cyberpunk 2077 is cute) too many are just kind of lame, or worse, promise something kind of cool-sounding, with the punchline being… that it’s not happening. Ho ho!
Helldivers 2 grunts can now call down the Quasar Cannon Stratagem, a heavy laser that's tailor-made for spreading democracy. The cannon is actually so efficient, that some helldivers are already begging developer Arrowhead Studios not to nerf it.
It’s only March and 2024 is already full of bold, big-budget games like Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, and Dragon’s Dogma 2. But one of my favorite games of 2024 isn’t available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, or even Nintendo Switch. It’s Mars After Midnight, a game from Papers, Please and Return of the Obra Dinn developer Lucas Pope. The only place you can play it? On the Playdate, Panic’s quirky little 1-bit handheld with a crank.
Troubled city building game Cities: Skylines 2 is getting a little less troubled, as new patch 1.1.0f1 adds various performance and bug fixes alongside the main event: much requested mod support and tools in the form a nifty editor. We got a first look at the new editor tools last October, which looks to simplify the process by combining what was previously several different separate editors into a single application. It was later available only to some closed beta testers, but is now released for everyone. Emphasis on everyone, actually, since the tool looks refreshingly approachable, even for those with basically no modding experience.
There’s nothing quite like a good ol’ horror game to get the blood pumping. While the majority of games out there pivot around the idea of empowering the player with a growing assortment of weapons and abilities with which to overcome enemies and obstacles, a good horror game is all about tipping the scales of any scenario to put you at a disadvantage against the many terrors that go bump in the night.
