World of Warcraft just increased the amount of experience points players gain in Follower Dungeons. This change came less than a day after the new World of Warcraft feature went live in Patch 10.2.5.
Seeds of Renewal, World of Warcraft’s Patch 10.2.5 content update, just recently went live across the globe, adding tons of new things to the game. One of the biggest new features in this World of Warcraft patch is Follower Dungeons, which allow players to run Normal difficulty Dragonflight dungeons with a team of NPC followers. However, as fans began to run these instances, they noticed they were receiving significantly fewer experience points for conquering these challenges.
While this was an intentional part of the new feature, World of Warcraft has since drastically increased the experience players gain in these dungeons. On the World of Warcraft forum, community manager Kaivax explained that originally, characters received 20% less experience per Follower in a dungeon party, meaning a fan with a full team of Followers would only get 20% of the normal experience gain. In a hotfix on the same day the feature launched, World of Warcraft reduced this penalty to 5%, meaning a solo player still receives 80% of the experience they normally would – four times as much as before.
Most players agree this is a universally positive change. The cripplingly low experience point gains from Follower Dungeons initially made it so leveling through them was extremely inefficient. Now, characters still gain way more experience when partying with players, especially because of the group bonus, but those who prefer to play solo or with a couple of friends can still level up reasonably quickly using Follower Dungeons in World of Warcraft.
That said, some fans think World of Warcraft should get rid of the experience penalty entirely. They think the 20% penalty is a needless tax on solo players, and that the party bonus should be incentive enough for fans to team up with real people more often than not. While it could remove the per-Follower penalty completely, it seems unlikely that it will, largely so World of Warcraft can encourage the social experience of dungeons in the MMORPG.
The 10-per-day limit on Follower Dungeons in World of Warcraft is still currently in place, though it has said it could change this limit in the future. Completing 10 Dragonflight dungeons could take a player between three and six hours, however, so most fans will probably be unaffected by the limit.
World of Warcraft: Dragonflight was developed by Blizzard Entertainment and is the ninth expansion pack for the iconic massively multiplayer online role-playing game World of Warcraft.
