World of Warcraft Classic players are enjoying Season of Discovery, as it has allowed Blizzard to add unique and memorable content to the game – such as a powerful sword that can drop from the new Stranglethorn Vale boss. A contrast to Retail, World of Warcraft Classic hearkens back to a simpler time, offering gameplay that emphasizes exploration and cooperation. It's an experience that's less structured than Dragonflight, and it's been the primary reason behind its popularity since its launch in August 2019.
Though the Classic servers offer an experience as close to the original as possible, the real attraction has been its Season of Discovery. Designed with the purpose of reinventing the Classic experience, Season of Discovery in World of Warcraft has given the developers free rein to make radical gameplay choices: primarily through runes and early level raids.
Stranglethorn Vale in Season of Discovery has been a similar sort of experiment by leaning into its history as one of the most notorious ganking zones in World of Warcraft. The second phase in Season of Discovery introduced the Blood Moon event to Strangethorn Vale, turning it into a free-for-all PvP zone for 30 minutes, and even adding a special boss that interacts with the free-for-all mechanic. As the Chosen of the Blood Loa, Kha'damu provides a significant buff to the amount of Blood for the Blood Loa stacks that one can earn by defeating others in combat during the Blood Moon.
While it is advisable to avoid engaging Kha'damu directly, a few brave players have managed to best him in combat. As shown by Sarthe in the above tweet, the curious thing about beating this World of Warcraft boss is that he drops an overpowered weapon that players can neither loot nor equip. Requiring Level 125, and granting an absurd amount of strength, the Bloodthirst Blade appears to be a cheeky joke made by the Season of Discovery developers after previously telling its players to not kill the Stranglethorn Vale boss.
It's clear that the Blood Moon event has been a major success in Season of Discovery, as many players are hoping that it will continue to be an endgame activity during its next three phases. While the new runes in phase two have enabled many World of Warcraft classes that lagged behind at launch, open world PvP will surely become even more exciting at Classic's intended level cap of 60.

During today's GTC 2024 keynote, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang showed a new AI NPC demo called Covert Protocol. Unlike the Kairos demo demonstrated at CES 2024, which was based on Convai technology, this one is powered by Inworld AI, the other major AI NPC platform geared towards game development. As you may recall, Inworld AI was first added by modder 'Bloc' in games like Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Grand Theft Auto V, though Rockstar quickly took that down to the dismay of the creator.
Using Chiori’s best build in can significantly improve her performance as a Geo sub-DPS and support on the field, which in turn results in extra damage output and less trouble from opponents. The 5-star unit is one of the new pieces of content added with Version 4.5 in mid-March. The character had previously been introduced as an NPC in Version 4.3’s flagship event but is now fully playable. Chiori’s main usage as a new character in 4.5 is dealing Geo DMG while off-field, supporting her main Geo DPS unit for increased elemental resonance.
Recent Genshin Impact leaks show two new bosses and Remuria enemies that will allegedly arrive in version 4.6. With the closed beta test for Genshin Impact's update 4.6 now underway, leaks about the upcoming content have arisen. It was revealed that the next version will expand Teyvat into new sub-regions, Bayda Harbor and Petrichor Island, to fill some empty spaces on the map. In addition, it will bring back a fan-favorite domain event, Vibro-Crystal Research, that requires players to dispatch enemies within a limited time to earn Primogems and other rewards.
Genshin Impact players can now have their first glimpse into the new zone of Remuria, located below the surface of Teyvat on a separate world map. While Version 4.5 is considered by many to be a quieter patch, Version 4.6 of Genshin Impact appears to be packed with new content. The update will mark the arrival of Arlecchino as a playable character, and will introduce two new artifact sets, a new world boss, and a new Trounce Domain near Mont Esus. More importantly, it will feature the third subterranean zone after Enkanomiya and the Chasm, which have traditionally been fan favorites.
World of Warcraft Classic has released a new update for Season of Discovery, which primarily deals with class tuning, but also makes some important changes to the Stranglethorn Vale boss. While it's safe to say that Season of Discovery has been a major success for World of Warcraft Classic, the experiment is still ongoing. Its premise has allowed the developers to reinvent the Classic experience, divided into five distinct phases, each being capped off with an endgame raid instance appropriate for its level cap.
One of the summons you can unlock in is the Phoenix, a fiery bird your party has to beat in an intense boss battle. Fought in the simulations of the NPC Chadley, defeating this powerful beast will give you a new Materia that can call upon the creature. Having the Phoenix on your side as an ally can be extremely helpful in future challenging battles.
Season of Discovery has given the developers free rein to reinvent World of Warcraft Classic, as the latest update brings major buffs to Mages and Hunters, as well as Paladins, Warlocks, and Warriors to a lesser degree. Though retail certainly found success with Dragonflight, World of Warcraft Classic players have seen Hardcore Mode and Season of Discovery added to the game, two different approaches to Classic content that have both resonated with the World of Warcraft community.
