World of Warcraft is telling a big story. so big, that the team announced The Worldsoul Saga at BlizzCon, which will tell a story over three expansions. The first, The War Within , got a new cinematic and will be out in 2024.
“The War Within begins with an ancient civilization rising to power deep beneath the surface of the planet, as heroes of both the Alliance and Horde alike are bombarded with visions—some are of the Light, while others see an alternate, darker fate,” Blizzard shared in a press release.
Following The War Within, the following two parts, World of Warcraft: Midnight and World of Warcraft: The Last Titan will follow to complete the overall story arc.
The War Within was presented with a cinematic featuring a reflective and troubled Anduin. Thrall arrives, and they speak. Turns out, Anduin and Thrall have both been having strange visions. The captions on the cinematic place the source that flashes on screen as the Worldsoul, which would make sense. The two briefly talk about the past and tension erupts. Yet, there’s something bigger going on. That mysterious voice again, the visions getting stronger, and a pan out to a mysterious, colossal sword in the background.
This is our tease for now. And it is just the beginning of a three part story. The War Within will raise the level cap to 80, and feature: Explore the new continent of Khaz Algar: Off the western shores of Kalimdor lies The Isle of Dorn, a new hub for both the Horde and Alliance. Begin to explore what dwells beneath the surface in the lava-fuelled forge of The Ringing Deeps, the lush Hallowfall, and the pinnacle of Nerubian society, Azj-Kahet.
Preorders are already open for the expansion, in three editions. The base edition is $49.99 and also includes access to Dragonflight right now if you don’t already own it, along with a level 70 boost to let you start in Guardians of the Dream next week.
