Dynamic Flying for Druid Flight Form Coming in The War Within

World of Warcraft: The War Within is the next expansion set to release for the decades-long-running MMORPG. Touted as during the BlizzCon 2023 Opening Ceremony part of the culmination of nearly twenty years of Warcraft history, The War Within is the first of three chapters that will see the resolution to narrative threads that have been dangling for years. And like any expansion, it will feature new areas for players to discover, along with more than a handful of dungeons and encounters they can tackle at varying difficulties.

People who play videogames want "new content literally almost every single day", according to Blizzard president Mike Ybarra - indeed, "they want new stuff every day, every hour". I do not want new stuff every day, every hour, Mike. Frankly, the idea makes me want to burn my possessions and go spend the rest of my life under a pine tree.

There was a lot of World of Warcraft news to unpack at BlizzCon 2023. Developer Blizzard Entertainment unveiled the Worldsoul Saga, a seismic story that will unfold over three expansions – beginning with The War Within in 2024. At BlizzCon 2023's opening ceremony, Blizzard announced Mauga as the 39th hero to be added to Overwatch 2 with the upcoming Season 8. A damage-based tank hailing from Samoa, Mauga was available to try both at home and at the event itself; we played a few games and discussed our first impressions here.

Blizzard recently introduced its 39th Hero to its multiplayer shooterOverwatch 2, in the form of Mauga, a tall, thick-set Samoan tank who, players have noted, looks rather like Pixar’s portrayal of the Polynesian demigod Maui in its animated film Moana. Well, it appears there’s more of a link between the two than just a passing resemblance, as Mauga directly references Maui in his voice lines.

Blizzard revealed the latest hero to join the ever-growing roster of its shooter Overwatch 2 at Blizzcon 2023. During an interview at the convention, Polygon got more details about Mauga, what players can expect from him, and the process of creating a new tank.
