Though is filled with a ton of game mechanics with less emphasis on the lore or narrative, the giant tree in the top left of the screen has sparked the interest of many of the 19 million people who have hopped into the game since it was originally released. Without a direct story in beyond the Journal entries scattered throughout the Palpagos Islands, it's left to players' imagination as to what the giant tree is and what it could mean for the game's Pal population.
That said, within those Journal entries actually lies some interesting lore. In addition to Tower Boss entries, like those that explain Zoe Rayne and Grizzbolt's past, there are also the Castaway Journals that retell the tale of the character who landed on the islands before. One entry actually mentions the giant tree, providing some hints to what it could be and what it could mean for .
Though there is not much lore or story in, there are a few clues in Journal entries as to what the Giant Tree could be. The World Tree is present in Hungarian, Norse, Chinese, Native American, and other cultures' mythologies.
Outside of, the World Tree is often associated with themes of balance and harmony in the cosmos, while others view its roots and branches as a connection between the earthly and spiritual realms. One interesting interpretation of the concept may also tie into. According to some Indo-European shamanistic beliefs, one common World Tree motif is the image of a giant bird that hatches shamans on the branches of the giant tree, something that may be a clue to the tree's origins in the creature-collecting game.
Though the World Tree — unlike virtually everything else one can spot in the far-off distance in isn't actually reachable — well, not in the traditional sense, that is. Certain players, like DotSlashFrag on YouTube, have reached the giant World Tree, and what's there might be underwhelming. As it turns out, there's a reason there's a giant red wall blocking off the area is there, and it's because it's a yet-to-be-developed area of created by the game's developers, PocketPair. There's nothing on the giant tree island, making it one of the worst locations for a base.
As DotSlashFrag demonstrates, it's more than possible at the moment to
