Yes, the rumors are true. The team behind the roguelike management sim Cult of the Lamb are adding sex to the game.
It started on Tuesday, when the developers issued a challenge to fans: If the game’s X account hit 300,000 followers, the team would add sex to the game. Well, call it an act of divine intervention, but the account gained over 113,000 followers within two days and Massive Monster announced it would officially be adding sex to the game. But while we know Cult of the Lamb will be getting sex, this only spurred even more questions about the raunchy update. Polygon spoke to developers in a written Q&A to learn more about the now infamous “sex update” and what fans can expect.
Cult of the Lamb is a combined action-adventure game with management sim elements. As you play, you fight your way through dungeons and amass followers and religious doctrines to build a thriving and demonic cult. Massive Monster and Devolver Digital first released the game in 2022. The developers said that they will add the sex components to the game as part of the game’s Sins of Flesh update scheduled to launch in “early 2024.” Sins of Flesh will be a free update, but players can opt to purchase a paid cosmetics pack as well.
The sex update is now indeed real, but the biggest question remains: What will the sex look like in the game? Cult of the Lamb features a cast of adorable anthropomorphic animals, but the promise of sex left a lot to be imagined. On this note, the team assured Polygon that while the game will be getting sex, it won’t change the overall age-rating of the game.
“We used games like Pokémon and The Sims when it comes to references, but put our own cult-ish spin on things. The age rating will not change,” the studio said in a statement to Polygon.
Cult of the Lamb has its fair share of vulgar content and very openly critiques organized religion. On top of that, the team has cultivated a unique voice on social media that relies on stunts like this to garner attention. In September, the brand account made news when it tweeted a joke about deleting the game following Unity’s announcement of install-based fees. It’s not all that surprising that the developers would add sex to the game. Given this, Polygon asked the team if it had any prior plans to add sex to the game, or if it truly started with this tweet.
“We have been working on Sins of the Flesh since we finished the last update earlier this year,” the studio said. “When it comes to follower fornication it was something we workshopped a long time ago and didn’t go with, but now our programmers are working on the update as we speak. Our team is very talented and we have no doubt that it will be ready for release. We always finish on time,” that

For the past week, I’ve been watching Goodreads drama happen in what feels like slow motion. Debut author Cait Corrain admitted to fabricating at least six Goodreads user accounts, and leaving negative reviews (including one-star ratings) of other debut authors’ books — many of whom were authors of color. On Monday, her publisher dropped her book Crown of Starlight, and Corrain posted a mea culpa on X (formerly Twitter).
Following scrutiny from developers, The Game Awards founder and host Geoff Keighley has said he agrees the allotted speech time for each winner was too short this year.
Massive Monster is very slowly lifting the curtain of their upcoming Cult of the Lamb DLC, Sins of the Flesh. They will be showing off a teaser of the expansion every week until December 25. So we got one today (the 7th), which means we’re going to get (checks calendar) two more.
Jodie Foster doesn't think her True Detective and The Silence of the Lambs characters have anything in common – but the show isn't shying away from comparisons.
Fans around the world exploded with excitement Monday when Rockstar Games released the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI , or GTA 6 -- the most hotly anticipated game of the decade. The first look at the next instalment in the blockbuster series follows years of feverish speculation about the setting, characters and atmosphere of GTA VI.
In what is either a very blatant marketing strategy or a case of Icarus soaring too close to the sun, the Cult of the Lamb developers at Massive Monster put out a tweet earlier this week saying «we will add sex to the game if we hit 300k followers by the end of the year.»
Cult of the Lamb took to X (formerly Twitter) with an interesting promise to add some adult content to the game if they hit 300k followers. Their tweet went viral, garnering more than the requested followers, and has now spurred several games to follow suit.

Cult of the Lamb devs Massive Monster seem to be staying true to their promise to bring a ‘sex update’ to the cutesy cultist roguelite next year, after their promise to satisfy thirsty fans ended up exploding more quickly than expected.
Cult of the Lamb is seemingly adding sex as part of a Twitter pledge from its developer.
Cult of the Lamb developer Massive Monster said last week that the upcoming Sins of the Flesh update, slated to go live in early 2024, will not be «the sex update.» But now it looks like maybe it will be.
