The Watch Dogs is "dead and buried", as Ubisoft canceled multiple projects based on the franchise, according to online rumors.
Speaking on X/Titter, known leaker j0nathan revealed how the series is seemingly done. Legion's commercial failure brought the cancelation of multiple projects in the series, according to the leaker, including a "fairly original" battle royale project.
Despite the lack of official word on the matter, what the leaker revealed is not hard to believe. Watch Dogs Legions didn't exactly set the world on fire, despite some interesting ideas, and in the past few years, Ubisoft started focusing more on profitable franchises like the Assassin's Creed and Far Cry series. Still, the European publisher did bring the Prince of Persia series from its hiatus this year with Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and the upcoming The Rogue Prince of Persia, so the franchise that began back in 2014 with Aiden Pearce's story may still come back in the future.
It's a shame that Watch Dogs Legions may end up being the final entry in the series, as its world design and solid gameplay made it a good open-world game with a ton of potential. You can learn more about the game in our review.

Resident Evil 9, the next entry in the CAPCOM survival horror series rumored to sport open-world features, has apparently been delayed internally and may skip its 2025 release window.
Questions were no doubt asked about the future of Watch Dogs when the latest game in the series, Watch Dogs Legion, underperformed both critically and commercially (even though its initial sales numbers might have hinted otherwise). The PS5 and PS4 open world title, which first launched in 2020, saw a lot of improvement through post-launch updates and DLC, but the damage had been done long before Ubisoft got around to fixing things.
A leaker has claimed that Ubisoft Toronto's Splinter Cell Remake will feature raytraced reflections and raytraced audio that can affect the game in interesting ways. Although the Splinter Cell Remake was announced years ago, it's still without a release date. However, recent hints suggest that could be changing soon.
Assassin's Creed Hexe's protagonist will possess magical abilities, such as a way to possess cats, and to manage some form of fear system, according to a recent report. Assassin's Creed Hexe has only received a teaser trailer so far, leaving much to the rumor mill and speculation, but it seems to take place during the 16th-century Witch Hunts of the Holy Roman Empire.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has received a new update that adds a 40 FPS mode for players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. Ubisoft's latest open world adventure game, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora was released just before the end of 2023 and has mainly been praised for its stunning first-person visuals. Set in the timeline of the blockbuster films, Frontiers of Pandora gives players control of a young Na'vi as they escape and fight back against the RDA.
The future of the Watch Dogs franchise appears shaky following a new rumor suggesting Ubisoft has canceled several projects related to the series. This news comes after the middling critical and commercial reception of the last entry in the Watch Dogs franchise, 2020's Legion.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora came and went without making too much of a mark for a great many people who played it, but developer Massive Entertainment has continued to put out new patches for the open world title since its launch in December, with another one now having gone live in the form of Title Update 3.2.
As the weather (hopefully) turns nicer and the days get longer, it’s hard to think about being inside watching TV. Which is why it’s good that this week’s offerings are so easy to pop on at your leisure: Whether it’s the charms of Netflix’s Dead Boy Detectives — based on a comic written by Neil Gaiman — or the hard-won pleasures of Shōgun’s final episode, or even the fighting spirit of We’re Here season 4 or Knuckles, there’s a lot to love this week.
The highly anticipated Splinter Cell remake may feature one of the best ray-tracing implementations to date, according to some online rumors circulating today.
A reliable Ubisoft leaker has claimed that Watch Dogs is "dead and buried" as a series, so don't get your hopes up about seeing Marcus, Wrench, and Aiden again.
Cillian Murphy won't be in Far Cry 7, says Ubisoft leaker and YouTuber j0nathan.
