Vampire Survivors is Getting a Contra DLC, PlayStation Release Set for Summer 2024

Unveiled last night at the IGN x ID@Xbox Digital Showcase, Vampire Survivors has received a free new update called Laborratory (yes, with two 'r's). It includes one new character, one secret character, three weapons, one stage, and a bonus go-cart racing stage. But perhaps most importantly of all, Poncle say they'll answer the question that's been on everyone's lips: "Why is it called Santa Water?". This is something that's puzzled me since the game's inception, and therefore, I will be thrusting myself back into the game where there are, in fact, no vampires at all. I need to know.

poncle’s Vampire Survivors is gearing up for some Contra collaboration DLC next week, but for now, a free new update is available. Vampire Survivors has announced and shadow dropped the surprise Laborratory Update. Developer Luca Galante, aka poncle, calls the Laborratory Update an AAAA upgrade, as it is the biggest free update Vampire Survivors has ever had to date, adding new features and animations to the game.

PlayStation owners might be able to get 's latest suits for free at the moment. Unlocking suits has been a huge part of Insomniac Games' Marvel's Spider-Man series and offers a way for players to experience these games as their favorite Spider-Man from the character's six-decade-long history in media. Upon the game's launch, there were 39 available suits for Peter and another 39 for Miles, including the 10 suits from the Digital Deluxe Edition, but since then, Insomniac has added other outfits in patches, such as the Hellfire Gala suits that accompanied the game's New Game Plus update.

Blizzard just announced it will not be holding a BlizzCon event in 2024. Though this unfortunate news may disappoint fans, Blizzard will be appearing at Gamescom, Dreamhack, and other live events instead.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has received a new update that adds a 40 FPS mode for players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. Ubisoft's latest open world adventure game, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora was released just before the end of 2023 and has mainly been praised for its stunning first-person visuals. Set in the timeline of the blockbuster films, Frontiers of Pandora gives players control of a young Na'vi as they escape and fight back against the RDA.

Vampire Survivors is an indie title that is ripe for collaboration, and developer Poncle clearly thinks so too. Earlier this week, during the first Triple-I Initiative showcase, it was announced that Vampire Survivors is collaborating with none other than Konami to team up with one of the publisher's biggest and most beloved franchises. Yep, you guessed correctly, it's Contra.

With the Patch 10.2.7 PTR comes a fresh round of datamined items marked for the Trading Post, with themes of Summer Fun, Dark Depths, and the Spirit of Competition! Riding Turtle from the Trading Card Game is also coming to the Trading Post.

Poncle has announced plans to release Vampire Survivors for PlayStation consoles, as well as new Contra-themed DLC for the game.

As part of the Triple-I Initiative, Vampire Survivors pulled back the curtain on its fourth paid expansion, Operation Guns, a crossover DLC with Konami's Contra series. The upcoming expansion for Vampire Survivors will launch on May 9, including 11 new characters, 22 new weapons, and two stages for players to experience.
