As part of the Triple-I Initiative, Vampire Survivors pulled back the curtain on its fourth paid expansion, Operation Guns, a crossover DLC with Konami's Contra series. The upcoming expansion for Vampire Survivors will launch on May 9, including 11 new characters, 22 new weapons, and two stages for players to experience.
The news of Operation Guns' release came four months after Vampire Survivors announced its third DLC and first crossover expansion, Emergency Meeting. As a crossover expansion with Among Us, Emergency Meeting surprised players of both indie games. The DLC included the Polus Replica stage, the ability to play as nine characters from Innersloth's hit indie title, including a Crewmate and an Impostor, and 15 weapons to choose from. Emergency Meeting arrived first on PC and Xbox consoles in December 2023, with releases on Switch and mobile devices weeks later.
Following the release of Emergency Meeting, Vampire Survivors laid out its roadmap for 2024, which included more free updates and crossover plans. Among the crossover plans was the introduction of the game's fourth expansion, Operation Guns, which will launch on May 9 on all available platforms, with a planned PS4 and PS5 release in the summer to coincide with the game's launch on Sony's consoles. The Operation Guns DLC will cost $2.49, which matches the MSRP of the Emergency Meeting DLC. According to the Vampire Survivors Steam page, the Operation Guns DLC will include 11 playable characters from the Contra series, such as Bill Rizer, Lance Bean, Sheena Etranzi, and Lucia. The expansion will give players 22 new weapons to pick from, 13 music tracks, a large stage, and a bonus stage.
The Operation Guns DLC will include a new Adventure set across six chapters. However, the Vampire Survivors development team stated that the expansion's weapons would have slightly lower damage output to emulate the difficulty of the Contra series to some extent. The developers added that various Arcana interactions will allow the difficulty of the DLC to be adjusted at the player's discretion and that some weapons will adhere to the 8-angle firing constraints that older Konami titles had. Some pickups will also be added to the Contra content, including grenades and rapid-firing weapons that can clear through foes quickly.
With an affordable starting price and a charming pixel art style,Vampire Survivors continues to be one of the top indie games today. It remains to be seen what else the developers have in store for Vampire Survivors in 2024.

It includes one new character, one secret character, three weapons, one stage, and a bonus go-cart racing stage. This is something that's puzzled me since the game's inception, and therefore, I will be thrusting myself back into the game where there are, in fact, no vampires at all. I need to know.
