Wemade is at it again with a new fantasy MMORPG called Night Crows which has opened its pre-registration on the web, as well as on Google’s Play Store and Apple’s App Store. Similar to Wemade’s other properties, the game will feature blockchain technology, though it is primarily used as a monetization tool in this instance.
Night Crows is an upcoming Unreal Engine 5 fantasy game developed by Wemade Co. Ltd and MADNGINE that will release on mobile platforms as well as PC later this year. While we don’t have a specific release date, pre-registration began on January 11th, 2024. Pre-registration rewards include a growth chest, 500k gold pieces, a new event, and a silver wolf mount, while mobile pre-registration will receive a Black Wings cosmetic.
The game features 4 classes with 8 sub classes and 3 class advancement stages. The game intends to have huge PvP wars where three servers take part in a RvRvR battle with more than a thousand players, all of which will be able to battle for control of the land and air, as players will be able to take to the sky using gliders. As you can expect with a name like Night Crows, gliders play a very important part in the gameplay, and are meant as both a fun way to traverse the world as well as a strategic battle option.
As with other ‘popular’ Wemade Global games like MIR4 players will contend with a Web3 Blockchain Economy, where they will earn in-game rewards and cultivate characters, and then have the option to mint those characters as NFT’s which they can then sell online to other players. Wemade has spent significant time “perfecting” their tokenomics, which has translated itself into 7 different tokens in Night Crows, solidifying the overtly complex and confusing nature of the system as a whole. The system runs on the backing of the WEMIX GameFi platform, which connects to multiple games and markets, where the currency can potentially be utilized across multiple games in some capacity, or sold for real money.
Currently WEMIX and Wemade has over a dozen MMORPGs under their belt and growing, with Night Crows joining the MIR series (which will see yet another Unreal Engine 5 sequel join the ranks soon called Legend of Ymir), Abyss Legend, and Riders of Icarus, along with several other titles. While utilizing blockchain isn’t necessary to play many of these games, the nature of games that sell player minted NFT characters and items has often been described as the most pay to win system possible, and that’s before you take into consideration of the monetary requirements it takes to buy into the blockchain portion of the game.
Still, Wemade has found a modicum of success with their properties, and MIR4 is still listed in the top 100 games currently played on Steam
