The developer behind The Callisto Protocol, Striking Distance Studios, is currently hiring for a new unannounced game running in Unreal Engine 5.
Back in August of last year, we reported that the KRAFTON-owned studio was hit by layoffs. Apparently, these layoffs impacted 32 employees following "implemented strategic changes that realign the studio’s priorities to better position its current and future projects for success." Despite these layoffs, "new projects" were mentioned by KRAFTON. Shortly after this report, Striking Distance Studios founder Glen Schofield would be leaving the studio following disappointing results of The Callisto Protocol.

Fast forward four months and we might now have more information about Striking Distance Studios' new game, albeit it's not much to go by. According to a new job listing (via MauroNL) for a Lead Gameplay Animator, the studio is working on a "brand new, unannounced UE5 title" with the studio aiming to "create the most dynamic and engaging player and enemy experiences". The job listing doesn't provide additional details, but we're pretty sure that fans will appreciate this bit of information. We've included a screenshot of the job listing below in case it gets removed:
The Callisto Protocol was released back in December of 2022. Here's what we wrote about the survival horror title in our launch review:
"While an incredible looker in screenshots and death scenes, The Callisto Protocol suffers from a lack of intriguing content that makes the twelve-plus hour journey through Black Iron Prison worth two, even perhaps one single playthrough. Crafting and skill trees are both minimal in nature (with both costing a heavy amount of credits where players might only be able to fully upgrade two or three weapons in the full playthrough) while melee combat and combat encounters as a whole feel largely scripted. The horror elements stand out as reason alone to play Striking Distance's debut horror game, but you might want to find yourself getting thrown back into Black Iron Prison rather than see the journey through to the end."

Rocksteady Studios is prepping its first nerf for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, targeting the Diablo Blaze Affliction. The burn status proved very popular for players due to a bug allowing for extensive scaling, especially when playing challenging content at higher Mastery Tiers. While it’s in line with the power fantasy the team has envisioned, it’s far and away the best end-game build, as seen in the leaderboards.

The game also features a plethora of survival elements, featuring a fully explorable open-world and base-building gameplay. Now, developer Pocket Pair is looking to translate its recent success into the mobile game market.

The developer behind the horror game formed in 2019, and The Callisto Protocol was its inaugural release. Though highly anticipated, the spiritual successor to Dead Space launched to mixed reviews and a generally poor reception, leaving the future of the studio in question.
