Final Fantasy 14 director and producer Naoki ‘Yoshi-P’ Yoshida has revealed the Dawntrail expansion release date — and joked he’s giving Elden Ring fans one week to play the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC before jumping back into the fantasy MMO.

This should come as no surprise, but Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has launched straight to the top of the UK's physical chart. Square Enix's sequel is one of 2024's biggest releases and had a huge amount of pre-launch hype, so we'd expect nothing less. It forces EA Sports FC 24 into second place, and Hogwarts Legacy also slips one position into third.
One game that hasn't moved, though, is Helldivers 2. Sony's co-op shooter remains in fourth for a second week, despite the heavy competition. Looking further down, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has slipped into eighth, while Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is hanging around at number nine. In at number 10 is none other than Grand Theft Auto V.
Here's the latest top 10 in full (physical sales only).

Been absolutely loving FF7 Rebirth. It easily tops the original FF7.
@Zenos This is a ban-worthy comment.
I agree, one of the best games I've ever played so far, you seem to like it less than most @shogunRok
Yeah it's pretty phenomenal. A big improvement from Remake and I loved that. Synergy system is so so good
@djhegzy I just don't like comparing one part of a currently unfinished three-game saga to an all-time classic RPG that changed the industry as we know it.
I really like Remake and Rebirth, but FF7 is a genuine masterpiece. I guarantee this trilogy won't have anywhere near the impact as the original, nor will it be remembered so fondly.
(I am looking forward to part 3, mind.)
Some legit good games doing well these days. It's nice to see
@ShogunRok Yeah I know I am gonna get heat for this comment but I am 100% serious. Not enjoyed an FF game like this since atleast as far back as FFX.
Edit: If part 3 raises the bar higher I will be very happy with this remake trilogy. Though it does make me frustrated that FF8 will never get the same remake treatment.
@Zenos Hey, fair enough — it is nice to see people enjoying it so much.
Curious how Rebirth sales compared to Remake. The latter launched during the height of the pandemic but digital sales have drastically increased since 2020.
@ShogunRok Thanks
Hopefully this leads to more quality FF games from Square moving forward.
I played the original FF7 the first time in 2016 and thought it was just alright, mainly because of how it aged gameplay-wise
I enjoyed Remake + Rebirth way more than the original (havent beaten Rebirth
Final Fantasy 14 director and producer Naoki ‘Yoshi-P’ Yoshida has revealed the Dawntrail expansion release date — and joked he’s giving Elden Ring fans one week to play the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC before jumping back into the fantasy MMO.
The director of Final Fantasy 14 has sparked renewed rumors of a Final Fantasy 9 remake.
Final Fantasy 14's Dawntrail will release in full on 2nd July, 2024 – the early access will drop one week prior on 28th June – so both you and the Dawntrail development team has «one week» to get through Elden Ring's eagerly anticipated DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree.
Earlier this week, we brought you word of a dangerous paranoia sweeping the ranks of Helldivers 2 players who, perhaps not getting enough sleep, have convinced themselves that operatives of an alien faction known as The Illuminate already walk among us. Well, if that sounds ridiculous, you'd best sit down for this next one: For the first time in recorded history, footage of so-called «flying bugs» has been captured, a rare mutation allowing Super Earth's oldest enemy to take to the skies, presenting Managed Democracy with an all-new threat — from above.
Final Fantasy XVI downloadable content “The Rising Tide” will launch on April 18 for $19.99 / 2,420 yen alongside the free version 1.30 update, Square Enix announced. It is also available via the Final Fantasy XVI Expansion Pass, which includes both “The Rising Tide” and the previously released “Echoes of the Fallen” for $24.99 / 3,080 yen.
Aerith herself doesn't care if you want to ship Cloud and Tifa. Briana White, the actor behind the English voice of beloved flower girl in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, says headcanon is the true canon in this instance.
We now officially know Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail developer HoYoverse’s upcoming urban gacha Zenless Zone Zero is coming to PS5, but the title’s third – and, presumably, final – closed beta test will not be available on Sony’s system. Announced earlier today, sign-ups for the sampler are available for PC and mobile through here.
Sony may have revised its PS5 sales estimate for the current financial year, which will end on 31st March. But unsurprisingly it still wants to sell as many systems as possible, which means it’s going to make one last push for that all-important 21 million units target it’s been eyeing. And how does it intend to do that? One last round of price promotions.
Helldivers 2 continues to buck the trend of physical game sales, as it's not only still in the top 10 — it's up several places. The co-op shooter has returned to fourth after dipping to eighth last week, meaning it's really holding its own against the competition. After learning the game has sold a grand total of 8 million so far, we can't say this really surprises us.
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion voice actor Shaun Conde, who played Genesis Rhapsodos in the English dub, was seemingly too sexy for Square Enix and repeatedly told stop sounding so seductive.
The Xbox Series X and S version of Final Fantasy 14 has a unique virtual currency that must be bought from the Microsoft Store before being spent in-game.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door has been considered among the best games of its kind for years, and demand for a remake of the RPG has been high for quite long as well. It’s no surprise, then, that ahead of its Switch remake’s looming launch, the game is already attracting quite a bit of people, as evidenced by how it’s performing on Amazon’s sales charts.
