Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered has released Update 2 for the game, bringing a huge number of fixes for the trilogy across all platforms. The update for Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered focuses on all three titles, although the third title has the most extensive list of changes this time around.
When it was initially released a few months back, Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered was well received by critics and fans alike, who praised its faithfulness to the original titles. While some were disappointed that it wasn't a top-to-bottom facelift of the trilogy, overall, the sentiment surrounding the launch was positive, providing a strong hit of nostalgia rather than a brand-new experience. While the gameplay might remain the same, the visuals were enough of an upgrade that new players could still enjoy Lara Croft's oldest adventures.
As confirmed by developer Aspyr, Update 2 for Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered has now been released for all platforms. Among the changes are several achievement fixes, as well as lighting improvements to match up with the original games. Photo Mode has also received several improvements across the trilogy, with new poses and a new outfit available. Of the three games, Tomb Raider 3 has the most extensive list of specific changes, although it mostly comprises miscellaneous fixes across the entire title. There's also good news for the Epic Games Store version of Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered, with a change implemented to ensure it now launches in fullscreen mode as intended.
Overall, the patch notes are a lot more extensive than the previous Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered update, although that did add support for 120 FPS and 4K resolution in-game. So far, Aspyr has done a solid job of ironing out the bugs in the trilogy, with two major updates in as many months. Hopefully, this level of support continues for Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered well into the future.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for the Tomb Raider series. There hasn't been a mainline entry since 2018's Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and it seems as though this iteration of Lara Croft has been sidelined for the time being. A fan discovery has led to theories that a Tomb Raider 4 remaster is also being teased, and given the success of the recent trilogy, it would make a lot of sense. Right now, this is purely speculation, but hopefully gamers will have another classic Tomb Raider title to revisit in the future.
