Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered has been a huge success financially and critically, bringing the adored classic trilogy to modern systems, but if you've been playing on the Epic Games Store, you've been playing a different version to everyone else.
Since launch, fans have been pointing out notable differences, and one YouTuber, Small Medipack, has collated these discoveries into a single Twitter thread. Here are the highlights:
There are also several texture improvements, with crisper visuals, better vegetation, different flooring, and more realistic snowflakes. The Colosseum level also has fixed topology, while the third photo mode pose (where Lara Croft sits down with her arms crossed) isn't broken. On other versions, her arms glitch through her torso.
Things aren't perfect over on the Epic Games Store, however. While its version of Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered has plenty of improvements, some players report the achievements being bugged and not unlocking.
Plenty of differences are still being spotted on Twitter and Reddit, though the official social accounts have yet to address them.
A huge complaint levied against the remastered trilogy's modern graphics is how dark things are, even when you're holding a flare. A handy trick is to switch to the old graphics when it gets bad since things tend to be much brighter, making it easier to see where you're going and what you're doing.
For those playing on the EGS version, this is less of a problem as the game is brighter overall due to having more open ceilings.
Hopefully, these improvements make their way to other platforms and storefronts soon. It's unclear why exactly the EGS version is different, but it already addresses many of the issues and complaints players have raised about the trilogy.
The original trilogy of Tomb Raider games for PS1 have been remastered for modern platforms. The visuals for all three games have been upgraded, all DLC is included, and players can switch between the old and new graphics.
