Todd Howard Told Fallout TV Show Makers to Hold Back on Things That Will Be in Fallout 5

In Dragon's Dogma 2, you can get an incredibly powerful weapon called the Unmaking Arrow which is "said to kill [whatever it hits] instantly." However, once you've fired it from your bow, the game automatically saves and removes it from your inventory forever. As DD2 only has one save file, that means you don't get another shot. Miss or waste the arrow and you're out of luck.

Folks seem pretty down on Dungeons & Dragons lately, and not for no reason. The company that owns it, Hasbro, continues to stick its foot in it — first with the whole OGL fiasco this time last year, and most recently with some conflicting comments from the company’s CEO regarding its stance on AI. But the gang at Worlds Beyond Number, the wildly popular Patreon-funded actual-play podcast, is still all-in on the seminal role-playing game. In fact, their most recent behind-the-scenes episode is serving to remind me why 5th edition D&D remains so popular — both with at-home players and with performers at Dimension 20, Critical Role, and elsewhere.

Amazon has shared a clip from its upcoming Fallout show, giving us a better look at our three main characters. The scene depicts a showdown between our Vault Dweller, Lucy, and the wanderer just known as The Ghoul, before it's shut down by the Brotherhood of Steel.

Though Bethesda offers post-launch support on Starfield and works on The Elder Scrolls 6 in the background, it also has Fallout 5. It’s launching sometime after the next Elder Scrolls, but studio director and executive producer Todd Howard already has some ideas.

The Fallout TV series trailer debuted last week, and fans quickly spotted changes and extra footage in international versions of Prime Video's preview.

A while back, Fallout TV series creator Jonathan Nolan (who's also directing the first three episodes) likened the upcoming Prime Video show to a non-interactive version of Fallout 5, mainly because it would be an entirely new story set after the events seen in the games.

Some ideas planned for Amazon's Fallout adaptation had to be nixed, because Bethesda has them earmarked for Fallout 5.

Amazon Prime's Fallout show is clearly trying to pull in fans of the series, as the recent trailer was full of references to all of the games - even the classics. However, game director Todd Howard says that you won't need to have played the games to get into the show, so it will still work as a jumping-on point if you're completely out of the loop.

While we were all blinded by the brilliance of the Fallout TV show trailer, it appears the upcoming Prime Video series was trying to heavily hint at the return of a major game faction – via this iconic location.

Dragon's Dogma 2's character creator is now out in the wild, giving us full scope to experiment and bask in the glory of how many options this thing has, and seriously, there's a lot. 

With Amazon Prime’s Fallout TV series right around the corner, it’s time to delve back into the post-apocalyptic world of the game to get us in the mood.
