A new leak suggests that projects have already been greenlit for Nintendo's upcoming console. After years of speculation, the President of Nintendo Shuntaro Furukawa, confirmed that the Nintendo Switch's successor — often called " by the Nintendo community — would be revealed later this year, and many quickly turned their attention to what games could be in development for it.
As reported by CentroLeaks on X, three titles are in the works for the Switch 2. Unfortunately, CentroLeaks didn't confirm which ones, but one title that players already know is in the works is, which was announced in February and is expected to launch in 2025.
Some did suggest that would be the final release for the Nintendo Switch, however, so it may be playable via the upcoming console's rumored backwards compatibility instead.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A is set to be in the Kalos region, and through Arceus, the latest title may have just teased the next game's region.
The most obvious choice for a title on the Switch 2 would be Gen 10, which has been heavily rumored to release in 2025 or 2026 to coincide with the 30th anniversary of. If the Switch 2 were to release a year on from its announcement, or after as suggested above, that could put it later in the year, aligning with Gen 10's rumored release window to potentially make it a launch title.
Considering previous console generations, there will likely be a remake of a previous generation on the Switch 2, such as the long-rumored games of Gen 5. The most recent remakes in the series have been of , the Gen 4 games that immediately preceded, so chronologically, this would make sense.
Alternatively, one of these titles could be a surprise, such as a new version of, a service for the Nintendo Switch that provided cloud-based storage to ensure players could keep their entire Pokémon collection in one place, or it could be a return to one of the series' many spin-offs, such as,, or. Either way, the news that games will be coming to Nintendo's new console should hardly come as a shock to anyone given the franchise's long-running presence as a flagship title for the company, but the possibilities for the series going forward are plenty, so hopefully there will be some surprises in store alongside the reveal of the new device.
