A new theory surrounding one of 's suits could predict an upcoming story in Insomniac's Universe. Throughout all three of Insomniac's titles, both Peter Parker and Miles Morales have had collectible suits inspired by their appearances in comics, movies, and TV, alongside Insomniac's own designs.
[Warning: The following article contains spoilers for the Marvel’s Spider-Man games.]This roster changed somewhat between and its predecessors. For example, some fan-favorite suits, such as Peter's symbiote suits, were left out of the earlier game because Insomniac opted to save them for its planned Venom-centric sequel, while other suits that did appear in and weren't included in to ensure a balanced amount between the two heroes.
As spotted by Jaimemarvel, Peter's suit appears differently in the Suits menu. Whereas all of the other thumbnails for the suits feature Spider-Man looking slightly to the right of the screen, the suit sticks out because it's the only one that stares straight forward at the player.
The suit is adapted from Dan Slott's comic book run of the same name, in which a dying Otto Octavius «killed» Peter and placed his own consciousness into the hero's body. During this time, Otto believed he could be a "" Spider-Man to Peter, and takes on many of Peter's former foes, namely the Sinister Six, while also attempting to "" Peter Parker's personal life as well. Unlike Peter, however, Otto goes too far at times and publicly executes villains, such as Massacre. Ultimately, Otto sacrifices himself to restore the original Spider-Man — whose consciousness wasn't completely removed, just subdued — in order to save New York City.
Insomniac introduced Otto Octavius as Peter's mentor in, with the two developing an enhanced version of prosthetic limbs before Otto's transformation into Doctor Octopus. Throughout the game, it was revealed that Otto had some kind of rapidly degenerative neurological disorder that focused on his motor functions, but not his mind, leaving him fearful that he would become a "" within his own body, which pushed him to create the character's iconic tentacle arms.
While Otto didn't appear in 's main story, Norman Osborn did visit him at the R.A.F.T. supermax prison in the game's mid-credits scene. Norman seeks revenge on the Spider-Men for "" his son, Harry, when they freed him from the Venom symbiote and left him brain-dead, and turns to Otto, who he correctly believes knows their secret identities. While Otto doesn't indulge Norman's request, coldly telling him "" it is clear that he has his own plan to get revenge on the heroes, writing what he describes as "".
Otto's hand still shaking as he writes is a clear indicator that his body's deterioration is still a key part of the

The Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 version of Venom is crawling into the comics in this year’s Venomverse Reborn event, just a few months after menacing gamers on the PlayStation 5. Even before Spider-Man 2 launched back in October, Venom’s presence in the Insomniac universe was strongly felt and hinted at. In the Marvel’s Spider-Man post-credits scene, it is revealed that Norman Osborn has been keeping his terminally ill son Harry suspended in a tank in his penthouse, with an all-too-familiar-looking black substance floating alongside him. Come Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Norman orders Harry to be released, despite the protests of Dr. Curtis Conners.
Fast traveling, one of the most impressive features of both the PlayStation 5 and Marvel's Spider-Man 2, was also a point of much discussion in development and almost cut as a result.
