The Witcher fans have been a hard bunch to please ever since it was confirmed that Geralt actor Henry Cavill would be replaced by Liam Hemsworth. Whether it be a story decision, outfit choices, or any dismissal of the books' established lore, fans have found something to be upset over.
You have to feel a little bit for Hemsworth, who will be voluntarily walking into a role that will almost definitely see him pilloried from every angle if he produces anything other than a standout performance, but it's safe to say that the show's costume department isn't doing him any favors. A recent photo from the set of The Witcher Season 4 recently leaked online of what appears to be Hemsworth's stunt double.
It definitely isn't Hemsworth himself, but he is kitted out with Geralt's classic white hair and Witcher medallion, so we can safely assume he's a stand-in of some kind. Since this is likely his stunt double, it also means we now have our first look at Geralt's threads that he'll be rocking in Season 4, and once again, fans are upset by how Netflix's interpretation of his outfit is "way too modern."
It's easy to see why fans are of this mind too, as Geralt does look a little bit like he's just stumbled out of a biker bar, kitted out in a black leather jacket, gloves, and trousers. It's definitely a far cry from the sets of armor we're used to seeing him wear in things like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It's difficult to imagine Geralt going up against a monster in something that dad would wear during his midlife crisis.
In fact, modern clothing has been a pretty consistent complaint against The Witcher's costume department, having torn Geralt and Yennefer's outfits in Season 3 to shreds back in 2023. Of course, a backlash from a minority of Witcher fans on Reddit or Twitter wouldn't be enough to force the hand of a streaming giant like Netflix, so it seems like we'll have to try and get used to Geralt and co looking a little more modern than we're used to, despite the medieval setting.

may allow Geralt to zip across the land on the back of his trusty steed Roach but for those players who want to see The White Wolf take flight, a new mod does just that. Throughout CD Projekt Red's sprawling fantasy RPG, Geralt is only ever able to use his horse to cut down on travel times and while Roach is handy in a pinch (and excellent at climbing buildings) it would often just be easier to fly from town to town. In lieu of planes, the Witcher just has to make do with something else.
