A new earnings report from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt makers CD Projekt Red has revealed that the follow-up to the sorceress-courting, Nekker-thwacking, horse-reassuring RPG is currently being worked on by around 400 people, and plans to move into the production phase by the “second half of the year.” Elsewhere, the report shows that the studio’s previous RPG, Cyberpunk 2077 officially ended all development at the end of April, at which time the remaining 17 staff still tweaking that game’s ray-traced chewing gum foil moved on to the Witcher 4 , or ‘Polaris’, as they keep insisting it's called.

While TV show has been a pretty big success, it’s been quite some time since the last mainline game., codenamed Polaris, is still far off, though developer CD Projekt Red expressed a desire to “push the boundaries” with the upcoming RPG.

CD Projekt RED said earlier in the year that the vast majority of post-launch support for Cyberpunk 2077 had wrapped up, and that if the game were to get any further updates in the future, they would be minor ones. Now, it seems like the developer has well and truly moved on from the game.

Modders got some good news on Tuesday with the release of The Witcher 3 REDkit, a free tool that Witcher developer CD Projekt Red says will allow people to edit “almost everything within the game.”
