In case you forgot, EA studio Full Circle is beavering away at a brand new entry in the Skate series. Announced what feels like eons ago (read: 2020), the skateboarding sim is making steady progress, and the team is ready to provide another update in its latest video.
Part of its occasional Board Room dev diary series, this latest episode puts the focus on customisation, which will clearly be a big part of the game. Being a free-to-play live service game, players can expect a vast array of character customisation options and cosmetics to make their skater just how they want them.
Aiming to hit a sweet spot between stylisation and realism in its art style, Skate will offer players deep customisation, allowing you to change height, body shape, features, and more. On top of that, you'll be able to earn (or buy, of course) various items of clothing. «We’re committed to making sure your time spent in San Vansterdam always feels valued and you’re able to earn great items whether you
choose to purchase premium currency or not,» reads the press release.
Many of the cosmetic goodies will be from licensed brands, with the likes of Vans, Girl, Chocolate, and Dime already involved. We expect this will be expanded upon well after the game launches.
As well as your wardrobe, you'll also be able to customise your skateboard. This includes not just the deck design, but also grip tape, stickers, wheel colour, and more.
It all sounds about in line with what we'd expect, but obviously the question remains: when will this game be ready to play? It looks as though there's some cooking time still to go, but we're looking forward to hopping onboard when it's ready.

He's also our go-to guy for Sonic-related matters, much to his delight/chagrin.
You just know this is gonna be full to the brim with battle basses, currencies and micro transactions. The exact opposite of what the rabid fan base was clamoring for with the #Skate4 posts.
Lost me at “Free-to-Play.”
I think live service could suit a Skate game if they don’t mess too much with what made the old games great and offer a reasonable amount of free unlockables to compliment the paid stuff. I spent sooooo many hours playing Skate 2 at uni with my housemates so this series will always have a special place for me.
