It was revealed during February's Nintendo Direct that a remaster of the 3DS's Monster Hunter Stories is coming soon. Now Capcom has revealed the remaster will also launch on PlayStation and PC and that it will be here on June 14, 2024. It also announced its previously Switch-exclusive sequel will also be coming to PlayStation for the first time, as well as a collection combining both games. However, a peek at the remaster's new page has revealed Switch owners will still be getting an exclusive of sorts.
The Monster Hunter Stories Collection combining both games in the series might be released on various platforms, but a physical version of the two games bundled together appears to be a Switch exclusive. That's according to Physical Releases which noticed the note on the Monster Hunter Stories website. The release date only seems to apply to the digital version, although it's assumed physical copies will be released on the same day.
The remaster of the first Monster Hunter Stories won't just be the same game with polished graphics. The best part about it is that its characters will all be fully voiced. There's also a museum mode where Monster Hunter fans can peruse the series' concept art and listen to its music. Pre-orders don't appear to be open quite yet, but when they are, bonuses for ordering ahead of release day include new Navirou outfits. You will also get freebies in the first game if you have Monster Hunter Stories 2 save data on your Switch.
With no firm release date for Monster Hunter Wilds, giving more people the chance to play Monster Hunter Stories is the perfect way to fill the void. Monster Hunter Wilds closed 2023's Game Awards, confirming it will be released in 2025. Exactly when in 2025 remains unclear. It could be here by this time next year, but it might also still be 18 months away. Capcom confirmed this week that the last game in the series, Monster Hunter World, has sold more than 25 million copies, so there's certainly a hunger for more Monster Hunter.
Capcom also has new Monster Hunter plushes gradually rolling out throughout 2024. 19 of them are being released this year, some of them available on Amazon already, and the rest available to pre-order. Smart to make them available gradually as it makes fans feel like they're capturing their favorite Monsters in real life as they wait for the chance to catch them again in Monster Hunter Stories this summer, and then Monster Hunter Wilds in 2025.
