The live action Super Mario Bros. movie is getting a 4K theatrical re-release later this year

One of the biggest complaints in the video game community is that certain developers are so driven to get their video game titles out that they’re willing to rush through development. That’s a problem, as it can leave games feeling incomplete, or they can be so rushed that it leaves a ton of bugs and glitches in the title. Nintendo has always been a company that has prioritized a game’s quality over everything else more times than not. That was apparently the case with Super Mario Bros Wonder, as the team wasn’t rushed during the early stages of development.

Like any good thriller on Netflix, Who is Erin Carter? is twisty from the jump. The show’s name quite literally begs the question. And it layers in one obstacle after the next for Erin (Evin Ahmad) as she tries to cover up… something about her past. Of course, by the end of the show (or even just the first episode) everything has gone to shit. Erin overcomes every obstacle, but often maims herself in the process — either from falling off something, fighting someone, or just being on the wrong end of a weapon.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is scheduled to launch in October, and being the first mainline 2D side-scrolling Mario game in over a decade, there are a lot of expectations surrounding its release. 

The world of Pokémon media is expanding. A new, live-action Pokémon drama premiering this fall will focus on the impact of the game on a former fan’s life — not on the Pokémon themselves. The show will air in October in Japan, according to a tweet from Japanese TV company Tokyo TV, translated by Pokémon website Serebii.

In a February 2022 Nintendo Direct, it was announced that the first three mainline Front Mission games would get modern remakes exclusively for Switch. Front Mission 1st: Remake hit last November, and now, nearly a year later, we finally know when Front Mission 2 will arrive.

Nintendo continues to go from strength to strength with each passing year. The Japanese video game company's most recent console, the Nintendo Switch, has become a popular choice for gamers, even though it is significantly underpowered in comparison to Sony and Microsoft's consoles. However, this hasn't stopped its sales, as it recently surpassed the sales of Nintendo's previous best-selling console in the US, the Wii. The launch of Nintendo's latest exclusive, Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has given a major boost to the console's popularity.

Many attempts have been made to recapture the JRPG's glory days. In Tokyo RPG Factory, Square Enix founded a whole studio dedicated to the craft, and more recently Squeenix's "HD-2D" style has come to define both their own retro work and that of others. But it's arguably the RPGs from outside Japan that have been doing a better job of propping up the SNES nostalgia tent. Last year's Jack Move and Chained Echoes were both infinitely more refreshing to me than the slightly tired Bravely Default and Octopath Traveler sequels, for example, and now we have The Messenger studio's latest, Sea Of Stars, which is probably one of the few Japanese-inspired RPGs I've played in the last decade that's even come close to bottling the mighty Chrono Trigger and lived to tell the tale. If you're the sort to cry, 'They just don't make 'em like they used to anymore', well, you can dry your tears, because Sea Of Stars is the one that is.
