Usually, PC ports of Sony games are launched just a few months after they were announced. In this case, fans might have to wait a bit longer, but the fact that we're still early in the year suggests there's a solid chance to see this PC port land in 2024 anyway.
The Last of Us Part II Remastered launched two months ago on PlayStation 5, delivering an enhanced version of the critically acclaimed sequel originally released in 2020 for PlayStation 4. It included various graphical improvements, 4K support in Fidelity Mode, improved loading times, and full support for the DualSense controller's features. Naughty Dog also added Lost Levels, letting developers explore early-development versions of three new levels not seen in the original.
By far the meatiest addition to The Last of Us Part II Remastered was the 'No Return' roguelike survival mode. In his review for Wccftech, Francesco De Meo wrote:
The game's mechanics truly shine in this mode, unburdened by the bleak narrative that turned many off. At the start of each No Return run, players start with only the most basic equipment, which differs depending on the controlled character. By completing stages, the player earns different currencies that can be used to purchase and upgrade weapons and unlock skills, which are included in three different trees that are progressively unlocked as the run proceeds. Depending on the items offered and the available currency, it is possible to create a variety of builds that focus on stealth, melee, survivability, stealth, and so on.
While it is true that No Return Mode doesn't feature any new location, the combat scenarios are quite varied for the most part. Each stage comes with different enemy and encounter types, as well as mods that introduce some twists that can make them easier or harder, depending on the mod itself. With plenty of content available to unlock, the mode is extremely fun to play, forcing The Last of Us Part II Remastered players to come up with strategies on the fly that can also be implemented in the main campaign. It is also fairly accessible, thanks to the multiple difficulty levels and the fact that no content is locked behind any difficulty.
