Excitement is in the air as The Elder Scrolls Online’s Update 40 goes live today for PC and Mac players. This massive update brings a plethora of new content, including the highly anticipated Endless Archive dungeon, a new group finder system, Grand Master crafting stations, and much more.
Now let’s delve into the fascinating world of the Endless Archive and explore the other exciting features that Update 40 has to offer.
The crown jewel of Update 40 is undoubtedly the Endless Archive dungeon. Located within Apocrypha’s great library, this dungeon is a labyrinthine maze of twisting pathways and ancient tomes come to life. As a player, you’ll embark on a journey to combat a diverse assortment of foes from across Tamriel. What sets the Endless Archive apart is its dynamic difficulty – enemies become increasingly challenging as you progress, providing a true test of your skills.
To aid you in this perilous quest, you’ll receive Mora’s Boons in the form of Verses and Visions. Verses offer temporary, stage-specific enhancements, while Visions provide long-lasting benefits and are acquired after defeating a boss. Strategic use of these boons is crucial for success in the Endless Archive.
This exciting new dungeon can be tackled in three ways: solo, with a companion, or alongside a friend. Two leaderboards have been introduced to encourage competitive play – one for solo adventurers and one for duos. Rewards will be granted to those who dare to venture the furthest into this enigmatic realm.
Update 40 also brings seven brand new Class Item Sets, each focusing on a specific skill line from ESO’s seven classes. These sets cater to different playstyles and offer unique bonuses, making them valuable additions to your character’s arsenal. With items available in light, medium, and heavy weights, these sets can be customized to suit your preferences. Whether you’re a Dragonknight, Templar, Sorcerer, Nightblade, Warden, Necromancer, or Arcanist, there’s a Class Item Set waiting for you.
The Elder Scrolls Online‘s group finder system receives a much-needed revamp with Update 40. While it’s not a queue system, it streamlines the process of finding like-minded players for various activities. Whether you’re interested in dungeons, PvP, trials, or the Endless Archive, you can now search for groups within your preferred category. Group leaders can set specific criteria for joining and decide whether join requests require manual approval. This new system promotes collaboration and makes assembling a group more accessible than ever.
Crafting enthusiasts will rejoice at the introduction of Grand Master crafting stations. These stations simplify the crafting process by consolidating item set stations into just four

The Elder Scrolls Online has a lot of achievements, to put it lightly. We're talking over 1,000 in the base game and hundreds per DLC, amounting to 59,465 points. I've played for nine years, with around 2,000 hours, and amassed 17,000 points, and I'm barely scratching the surface. ch3m_gaming has gone much, much further.
