Tarisland Developers Announce Second Closed Beta Test

EA Sports FC 24 is the second-biggest boxed game launch of 2023 here in the UK, though physical sales are down by 30 percent on last year's FIFA 23.

EA’s yearly football franchise may have changed its name from FIFA to EA Sports FC this year, though as expected, it has had little impact on the game’s sales. As per data for weekly physical sales in the UK released by the Gfk (shared by GamesIndustry’s Christopher Dring on Twitter), EA Sports FC 24 is the UK’s second-biggest physical launch of the year, behind only The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and ahead of Hogwarts Legacy.

Upcoming fantasy MMORPG Tarisland is making its way towards the next closed beta test in November. Now we know whose music will be part of the experience, as the MMORPG will feature award-winning composer, Russell Brower.

Publisher HYBE IM and developer FLINT will host the first global beta test for 2D action RPG ASTRA: Knights of Veda from October 8 at 6:00 p.m. PT / 9:00 p.m. ET to October 23 at 7:00 p.m. PT / 10:00 p.m. ET, the companies announced. It will be available for PC via Steam or client download, as well as Android devices.

But I'm piqued nonetheless by Chinese Room studio design director Alex Skidmore’s thoughts on how this Seattle-set World of Darkness action-RPG adaptation will differentiate itself from other games in the genre, and especially, how it will put its vampiric premise to use.

The Gfk has released the latest data for weekly physical software sales in the UK (via GamesIndustry), and the biggest new release of last week, The Crew Motorfest, has seen a decent debut. The open world racer sits in second place, which is the same position The Crew 2 debuted in when it launched in 2018. Its physical launch sales, however, are about a third of the 2018 game, as per GI.biz’s Christopher Dring on Twitter– though it’s worth keeping in mind that its digital share is likely to be much higher.
