Synced Preview – Adding nanomachines to your looter shooter rotation

The PC version of science-fiction cooperative third-person shooter SYNCED will launch via Steam on September 8, followed by console versions shortly after, publisher Level Infinite and developer NExT Studios announced.

Indie game studio Shiny Shoe has unveiled the latest update for their game, Inkbound, titled Starship of Terrors. This free expansion introduces a new science fiction theme to the game's existing worlds which currently span a host of magical and natural worlds. This past week we were invited to see the new update in action and were introduced to the newest class — the Star Captain. The team delved into the new book, the Derelict Starship, and teased some of the changes that are now available. Let’s dive into what’s new. 

The chainsword is one of my favourite weapons in all of science fiction. It has the form factor of a medieval longsword, but the blade is made up of dozens of chainsaw teeth that rip and tear through flesh. In a single strike it captures both the gothic aesthetic and violent excess of Warhammer 40,000. And this weapon is the brutal, snarling heart of the long-awaited Space Marine 2.

That’s the setup in The First Descendant’s newest trailer, and yet, all I want to do is zip around with grappling hooks while wearing the most fashionable cyber-bunny exosuit available. Thankfully the Gamescom trailer has that on display, too. Ta!

Black Myth: Wukong has been in the pipeline for three years, and Chinese developer Game Science has been teasing us with glimpses of in-game content for a while. However, we now have the first hands-on game preview and several new details courtesy of IGN.

Since Black Myth: Wukong released its first trailer three years ago, every year on August 20th, the developer Game Science has shown something new about the development progress of the game. However, what's different this year is that we finally got to play it. Game Science held a large-scale Black Myth: Wukong hands-on event in Hangzhou China, inviting over one thousand players from all over the country to personally play the latest trial version of this anticipated action-RPG.

Our small group of survivors enters the medical room together. “I’ve never seen how the testing machine works,” I say to the others in the room, my words piped into their ears by proximity voice chat, “is it alright if I try it out?” One of the more experienced group members says, “Sure,” then another player hops onto the testing table.

I was thoroughly underwhelmed when Guild Wars 2: Secrets of the Obscure was first teased/announced. I know the mystery around the Wizard’s Tower has been something players of both Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 have been clamoring for; it’s just never really resonated with me. I was also having trouble getting excited about some new mysterious threat we knew nothing about. 

Blizzard has just announced the PTR for Diablo 3's Patch 2.7.6, including a Solo Self-Found mode, a highly requested Paragon Cap, Season 29: Visions of Enmity, class balance changes, and more. The PTR testing phase will start on August 15 and will last until August 29! The full patch notes can be found below. Global Community Development Director Adam Fletcher also revealed that the Altar of Rites mechanic from Season 28 will return permanently with the release of Season 30.
