A grocery store in Poland is apparently giving away free copies of Fallout 76 for people who buy a box of pierogi dumplings. Despite its lukewarm reception at launch, the five-year-old Fallout 76 has become better than it originally was and is now a more-than-passable experience while people wait for Fallout 5.
Fallout 76 was released back in November 2018, at first to tepid reactions, but its Wastelanders expansion proved to be a great fix in the same way A Realm Reborn saved Final Fantasy 14. Despite this improvement, the perception of the game remains somewhat negative among some fans, especially those who didn't really give it a chance even after Wastelanders.
Over on r/gaming, Redditor Code412 posted a photo that seems to be of a grocery store in Poland offering a free physical copy of Fallout 76 for every box of pierogi (Polish dumplings) purchased. A quick Google image search shows that it actually seems to be a manipulated photo of a real promotion from years ago that was giving away other lesser-known games with the food. While some Redditors didn't realize the picture was fake and made jokes in the comments, others chimed in that Fallout 76 truly is worth checking out now.
Meanwhile, developer Bethesda has been hard at work making the game as good as it can be today. The game's current major story event, Expeditions: Atlantic City, started in December 2023 with the Boardwalk Paradise update and will conclude in March 2024 with the America's Playground patch, giving players enough new content to really sink their teeth into. In between those big patches, Bethesda also just released an update for Fallout 76 in January that not only fixed bugs, but also introduced new seasonal events for February. With a loaded slate, 2024 is looking to be a big year for the game—its sixth after release—with a new map expansion and more original story content on the way.
One possible reason why Bethesda is hard at work maintaining the game may also be to accommodate potential new players after the upcoming Fallout TV series premieres on Prime Video this April. Early reactions from hardcore fans look positive, so one can expect a lot of people's interest to be piqued enough to try playing the games. With Fallout 5 likely still years away, Fallout 76 is the newest experience people can flock to, and it's only a good thing for the developer to make sure it's the best it can be.
Fallout 76 is a new horizon for the long-standing series, giving players an MMO world to explore, where they can meet other players and embark on quests with them.

Very soon, all playable heroes will be made available to all players for free, but it does not come without a catch. Previously, in Blizzard’s competitive shooter, it was necessary to either purchase the Battle Pass in which a new character was introduced or play several hours before being able to use them adequately in matches. Players could also purchase “starter kits” in the in-game store that unlocked the character and one of their skins but, ultimately, new heroes, such as Mauga in , were blocked behind a paywall for a while.
