SteamWorld Heist 2 takes to the sea for long-awaited sequel

2016’s SteamWorld Heist, a turn-based strategy set in the SteamWorld game universe, is getting a sequel and Thunderful Publishing have released a new trailer offering players a deep dive into its gameplay.

The original SteamWorld Heist was an absolute treat, slamming the charming robotic world of the SteamWorld series together with a 2D take on the turn-based strategy of your XCOMs and Valkyria Chronicles and such. With SteamWorld Heist 2 recently revealed for an August release on PC, developers Thunderful have teased some more details on the sequel’s shiny new job system.

Thunderful’s deep dive trailer for SteamWorld Heist 2 is live, showcasing how the turn-based tactical RPG has evolved over its predecessor. The side-scrolling perspective, cover-based shooting and precise aiming remain as you ricochet shots creatively to overcome enemies. Check it out below.

Publisher Thunderful Games and developer Image & Form Games have released a “gameplay deep dive” trailer for turn-based RPG sequel SteamWorld Heist II.

It's been a fascinating journey for the developers behind indie game studio Evening Star. Much of the crew got their humble starts working together on Sonic the Hedgehog fan games. Their work was so highly regarded that they would eventually be recruited by Sega to develop Sonic Mania, a throwback to the franchise's 2D heyday that would go on to become the highest rated Sonic game in over 25 years.

A long-awaited gameplay feature in is finally arriving if new Version 4.7 leaks are to be believed. The action RPG has just entered the first stages of Version 4.6, a bulky patch that brought forth a load of playable content. Players got an extension to the Fontaine map accompanied by a whole new underwater section and its respective World Quests, as well as Character Quests and the playable version of Arlecchino, the only new character in 4.6. While there is still a lot to do in the current patch, eyes are turned toward the next update.

Fallout hype is truly inescapable at this point, with the TV show driving popularity and Fallout 4 even getting its long-awaited next-gen update (even if the latter has been considered rather disappointing by many). One way or another, everyone is trying to live their best post-nuclear apocalypse life right now, and this enormous mod for Fallout 4 looks like it'll enable us to do just that. 

Bethesda announced ’s next-gen update in 2022, and it’s finally here after a long delay. However, PC players might have been better off without it. The massive update adds very little to the PC version and causes more problems than it solves.

Valheim developer Iron Gate Studio have been teasing the new Ashlands biome for a long time, since early 2023 at least, and lo and behold, it’s finally arrived! The Ashlands are a rather interesting mashup of spooky land of the dead and volcanic themes, with plenty of lava and twisted monstrosities to deal with. Ahead of Final Fantasy 14’s next massive expansion, Dawntrail, arriving this summer, Square Enix recently put out a graphical benchmarking tool. Dawntrail’s benchmark is especially noteworthy as it’s the first time we’ve really been able to put the MMO’s much-anticipated graphical update arriving with 7.0 into practice and see what sort of demands it might make on our hardware by overhauling the 10-year-old game’s visuals.
