The final content update for Sonic Frontiers is available now on PS5, PS4, and it's one of the most important of the lot, making Sonic the Hedgehog's side-kicks Amy, Knuckles, and Tails all playable. As part of an additional narrative timed before the final battle on Ouranos Island, the three characters search for Chaos Emeralds to help the blue blur.

An anniversary update will be available for Cuphead later today, but your PS4 version of the game won't be downloading it. StudioMDHR has dedicated its latest slice of content to the Xbox community — describing it as a «love letter» — since it was the first to play the game upon its original launch. Cuphead was ported to PS4 roughly three years later in July of 2020 but its DLC The Delicious Last Course arrived day and date with other platforms.

Naughty Dog will celebrate The Last of Us Day tomorrow, but you shouldn't go into its livestream expecting any news on new games or TV shows. NIS America has announced it's remastering the Nintendo 3DS RPG The Legend of Legacy for PS5 and PS4, with a view to release the enhanced version early next year. Limited Run Games has revealed it'll be putting out physical versions of both Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden on PS4, with pre-orders available soon. Persona 3 Portable will be treated to three different versions, ranging from the standalone game to a $199.999 priced S.E.E.S. Edition that bundles in a 1:1 replica of the Evoker weapon, an armband, trading cards, and much more. Pre-orders open via Limited Run Games this Friday and will be until 12th November.

Sony has unveiled a new promotion in the USA that allows anyone who purchases and then activates a new PS5 by 20th October 2023 to redeem a free PS5 game. Those who qualify will need to turn the console on and button over to the PS Store, where a banner will take you to a page listing the 12 PS5 titles you can pick from. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has come away with the most viewed trailer of Sony's latest State of Play livestream, completely dwarfing the numbers Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has managed to record. Square Enix has announced that those who played PS5, PS4 game Final Fantasy VII Remake will be treated to «special bonuses» when they boot up Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Tracked through your save data, this is being done because the publisher isn't carrying over levels or abilities. As such, the bonus items are just a «little something extra».

Almost half of the entire workforce at Ascendant Studios has been laid off as a result of poor sales for its magical FPS Immortals of Aveum. Speaking to Polygon, three employees at the developer said «nearly half of its staff» was let go on Thursday, with bad sales of the game cited as one reason why. Sources claimed around 40 people were laid off from a studio that had 80 to 100 employees.

The launch of upcoming free-to-play shooter XDefiant has been delayed after Ubisoft shared the title has failed to pass certification on both PlayStation and Xbox platforms. The game was expected to be releasing at the end of last month, but following this setback, a new release date depends on whether platform holders Sony and Microsoft give it a pass in the next two weeks. If they do, launch can be set for the end of September. If a day one update is required to fix any lingering issues, XDefiant will be out in early October.
