With around 1000 explorable planets on offer, Starfield is positively bursting with new environments to explore. But some players think they’ve discovered something more familiar: an homage to a classic Halo planet. Kinda.

Bethesda Game Studios’ titles have a long and stories tradition of being heaven for the modding community, and titles put out by the studio has enjoyed incredibly long lives as a result of what the community has created using their modding tools. Unsurprisingly, Starfield looks set to continue that tradition.
Earlier in the year, Starfield director Todd Howard said that the space-faring RPG will be “a modder’s paradise”, but exactly how far can we expect that to go? Well, during a recent Q&A on Bethesda’s German Twitch channel, senior VP of global communications and marketing Pete Hines dropped a curious hint on that front. Apparently, Starfield’s modding tools will allow players to create entire planets of their own.
“How’d you like to make a planet?” Hines said.
So, how long will it be before someone recreates all of Skyrim on a planet in Starfield? Based on BGS has said of the game so far, it does look like the modding tools are going to allow greater flexibility and freedom than any game by the studio has done in the past- which is really saying something. Hopefully, the sci-fi RPG can make good on that promise.
Starfield is due out on September 6 for Xbox Series X/S and PC, with its early access release set for August 31. You can check out its exact global release timings through here.

Bethesda confirmed Starfield's built-in mod support is in the works and will be released early next year.
Starfield has launched in a more polished and technically stable state than any past release by Bethesda Game Studios, but a game as massive and sprawling as this one is obviously still going to have some rough edges. And with Bethesda planning on supporting the sci-fi RPG with new content and updates for the foreseeable future, we can, of course, look forward to plenty of improvements.
Starfield's jogging speed can appear to be a little fast but thankfully if you're finding it to be an issue a few players have already created some mods to help.
Starfield is getting official mod support in 2024, game director Todd Howard confirmed in an interview. Since the expansive space RPG's debut in early access, thousands of unofficial mods have been made available online, ranging from ones that enable Nvidia's DLSS upscaling system to making the inventory more compact and user-friendly. However, official modding tools make it easy to add fresh, custom content such as new planets and story quests, essentially opening the playing field for more experimentation. This has been the custom for Bethesda games at launch, where the modding community has been deeply involved with eliminating bugs or enhancing the experience, thanks to a deep understanding of the engine.

With Starfield now out, modders are already beginning to use the tools that they have at their disposal to improve and change the massive sci-fi RPG in a number of ways. And of course, this being a Bethesda RPG, there’s plenty of excitement surrounding what will be possible once the game’s full modding toolset is at the disposal of the community.
A Starfield player has somehow managed to purchase the entire home base of the Crimson Fleet, and has successfully landed it on a planet.
For the past five years, the YouTuber Bacon_ has been uploading funny video game clips, nearly all of which come from titles made by Bethesda Game Studios. With the release of Starfield this week, Bacon_ has new fodder. “Just trying to get through my shift,” which was posted four days ago, shows a Starfield NPC pounding a mining laser into his colleague’s crotch. “So Starfield is out, and it’s definitely a Bethesda game,” Bacon_commented.
One of Starfield's best armor suits can be obtained via a busted glass case.
Starfield allows players to fly to any planet they want, only it'll take hours upon hours, and you can't manually land on them.
It's finally Starfield week. Even though its release date isn't until September 6, reviews for Bethesda's RPG will drop later this week, and then those with early access will be able to start playing on Friday. It's a week that has been years in the making. However, even though no one other than a handful of reviewers and those who helped make the game have played it, some people have predictably started to worry about Starfield being woke.
