There are a lot of things that Starfield lets you do, even if its detrimental to your own health. You have to live with the consequences of your actions of course, but there are very few things that the game takes completely off the table. One of those things was getting out of your ship whilst you're flying through space, something that the last fifty years of sci-fi movies and video games warns you not to do.
That hasn't stopped Starfield fans from attempting to explore the final frontier in nothing but a spacesuit though, as they've already figured out a way to leave your ship to float around in the vast nothingness that is space. The discovery comes from Reddit user u/WeirdConcern4666, who showcases their new found ability on the Starfield subreddit by floating around a bunch of rocks nearby their ship.

Before you get your hopes up, this isn't just a switch that you've missed on the underside of your ship's controls. It appears as though u/WeirdConcern4666 has used console commands in order to leave the confines of their ship, using the commands player.setpos x 10 and setgravityscale 0 while standing in their ship to get into space.
What makes this use of console commands rather interesting is that it actually looks as if it could have been officially implemented at some point. Obviously, a more realistic depiction of space would have this player simply float in one direction until they were just a speck on the horizon, but subsequent posts from u/WeirdConcern4666 revealed that they were able to stand on nearby rocks and even start building an outpost on them. You can even remove your spacesuit, just don't expect to survive for very long.
While it's not official just yet, we don't know what Bethesda has planned for DLC. Some think that it would be pretty cool if the player was able to leave their ship and sneakily board other enemy ships in this manner, or perhaps fix exterior damage to your ship by repairing it from the outside. For now, it's just a neat thing you can do with console commands, but the potential is definitely there for Bethesda to possibly experiment with.
Speaking of features fans want as DLC, a recent glitch that allowed one fan to purchase and customize the space station known as The Key has some wishing for space station construction to be included in some kind of expansions. Base building is a little bit lackluster when compared to Bethesda titles like Fallout 4 and Fallout 76, and many fans want the option so they can carve out a piece of the Settled Systems for themselves.
