The 1.6 Update for introduced plenty of new features into the game and one of them, the bookseller, has just become even better thanks to the work of a talented fan. Appearing twice every season on random dates, the bookseller floats into Pelican Town and dishes out his wares to the farmer, who stands to gain some handy stat boosts if they purchase his guides. While there are already just under 35 different books that can be purchased, one player took it one step further by introducing even more to the merchant's stock.
Posted to Nexus Mods by user Spiderbuttons, the «Button's Extra Books» mod does exactly what it says by adding nine new books to the bookstore that include some incredibly powerful, even game-changing abilities. The new novels are explicitly not skill books but will provide farmers with some great upgrades like artisan machines producing goods 20% faster, or an increased chance to grow giant crops. Purchasing these will cost a decent amount of cash so players will need to make sure their wallets are freshly stacked with gold if they want some of these fantastic improvements.
Outside of some fun buffs like a permanent increase to luck and an increased chance to find Qi gems off slain monsters, some of the included books in the mod fundamentally alter the experience. For example, the «Bus Driving for Dummies» allows players to drive the bus to the Calico desert whenever they want without having to wait for Pam. Another excellent upgrade can be found in «Book of Altruism,» which allows players to hand out more than two gifts per week, making it significantly easier to befriend the citizens of Pelican Town.
While not necessary to enjoy 's 1.6 Update, the addition of more books will certainly appeal to those bibliophiles who like the idea of expanding their farmer's skills through research and learning. It's also just another way of padding out the gameplay experience for those who want to strive to unlock even more goods, especially those players who think that they've seen everything has to offer. It's unknown whether Spiderbuttons plans on expanding the mod further with even more books.
The bookseller is arguably one of the best additions included in the 1.6 Patch for, not least of all because it helps to further flesh out the game's world and lore. The character who mans the counter, known as Marcello, has actually already appeared in older versions of the game. Eagle-eyed players will no doubt recognize him from Harvey's Ten Heart event, proving that developer ConcernedApe really has a keen sense for expanding the lore of his universe.
