Over the last few months, it's difficult to think of two games that have dominated the industry more than and, thanks to the former receiving its 1.6 Update and the latter earning a plethora of awards for its impeccable writing and game design. Mixing them both sounds impossible, but that's not stopping some talented fans.
Per an announcement on X (formerly Twitter) by user @XunHe1145, the creator revealed the upcoming mod «Baldur's Village» which will see characters like Astarion, Halsin, Shadowheart, and Gale settle in Pelican Town.
The mod is being developed by "" but the actual project is incredibly ambitious as it aims to add romance storylines, quests, and new structures to all based around Larian Studios' RPG. Production may take some time but the team is aiming to release the initial version before August 2024.
Aside from just announcing the existence of the project, @XunHe1145 also shared some screenshots of what players can expect when the mod eventually launches. The shots include two pixel-art portraits of both Astarion and Shadowheart as well as some views into the former's home, filled with an assortment of magical items. At the time of writing, completed assets include an "" of «Baldur's Village,» four different styles of buildings for each character. The creator confirmed that, eventually, all of 's core cast will be implemented.
While it may seem like a strange pairing, both and have established an audience with a shared interest: Romanceable NPCs. Both games have characters that players can befriend and eventually date, with the latter being decidedly more risque with its relationships. Given that romancing the characters of will seemingly be a major point of the «Baldur's Village» mod, it stands to reason that fans who enjoyed the experience the first time around would want to do it again in a -like setting.
