is already bursting with Easter eggs and references to popular culture but one fan's recent discovery may just be its sneakiest yet. Through players' adventures in Pelican Town, they'll be able to collect a plethora of decorations for their houses, including one particular cool item that takes the form of a lengthy fish tank that can be filled with various ornaments. Following the recent 1.6 Update, a new piece of fishy furniture can now be added to the aquarium that's no doubt a cheeky nod to the most iconic sea sponge of all time.
Posted to Reddit by user Emma_JM, the player shared a screenshot of the wiki which confirms that pineapples can now be added to fish tanks in what is undoubtedly a reference to the hit Nickelodeon cartoon .
They even went one step further by providing evidence of the fruit sitting comfortably on the bottom of the aquarium, waiting patiently for the beloved sponge to make his home from the Krusty Krab. One of the most recognizable aspects of Spongebob is that he lives in a pineapple under the sea, making the reference obvious but no less fun.
The post regarding the addition of the pineapple to the fish tank garnered a great deal of support from the community, many of whom noted that despite playing the game for hundreds of hours they didn't know it was possible. Others suggested that a future patch would allow users to place a sponge and dried starfish into the aquarium to represent Spongebob and his friend Patrick Star. At the time of writing, the closest fans can get to depicting a scene from would be to add a pineapple alongside a Sea Cucumber, which bears the character's yellow color.
As for the tank itself, players can pick up an assortment of different variations to best suit the needs of the home or aesthetic. A small tank can be purchased from local fisherman Willy for just 500g but this piece of furniture can only hold two critters with two pieces of furniture. On the opposite end of the scale, the Aquatic Sanctuary can be bought from Mr. Qi for 20 Qi Gems, allowing for six bottom feeders, six swimmers, and seven pieces of furniture.
continues to impress with the sheer amount of content on offer to players. Given that the game is nearly a decade old,it's a testament to developer ConcernedApe's dedication to surprising the community that discoveries like the pineapple in the fish tank still manage to surprise fans. What's next for the game remains unknown but it seems fair to speculate that the experience will only become better with more patches.
