Ubisoft recently premiered a new story trailer for Star Wars Outlaws, offering another look at Massive Entertainment’s upcoming open world action-adventure title, and confirming that it’ll be releasing this August. Alongside that, the company has also released a developer breakdown of the trailer, in which narrative director Navid Khavari sheds new light on some of the game’s key characters, the many underworld syndicates protagonist Kay Vess will be crossing paths with, and more.
Where the syndicates are confirmed, Ubisoft had previously revealed a number of factions for the game, including the Hutts and the Pykes, while with this newest trailer, several more have joined the list. There’s the Crimson Dawn, a name that fans of Solo: A Star Wars Story will be very familiar with, while there’s also the Ashiga Clan, a new syndicate made for the game from scratch. There’s also Zerek Besh, also a new syndicate, and its leader, Sliro.
Sliro is, incidentally, also the game’s central antagonist, it seems like. Early on in the game, Kay and her companion Nyx will enter Sliro’s bad books after a job gone wrong, following which she is headhunted by Jaylen, a fellow outlaw who serves as her mentor, and offers her a way out of her predicament- pulling of one of the galaxy’s biggest heists ever, one that will require her to break into Sliro’s heavily guarded mansion. Meanwhile, constantly on Kay’s tail will be Varl, a bounty hunter hired to kill her by Sliro.
In order to successfully undertake her mission, Kay will need an elite team of outlaws, as a result of which the game will see her travelling across the Outer Rim and trying to recruit other scoundrels to her cause. The actions that you take as Kay will also impact her reputation with different factions, which will impact everything from vendors and whether or not certain areas of the galaxy can be entered to how the story progresses.
Check out the developer breakdown below for more details.
Ubisoft has also revealed Gold and Ultimate Editions for Star Wars Outlaws, which will include three days of early access, among other things. A Season Pass has also been revealed, which will encompass two post-launch expansions that will bring new stories, quests, and areas.
Star Wars Outlaws launches on August 30 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment are promising an expansive open world experience with the upcoming Star Wars Outlaws, which is being billed as the ultimate scoundrel fantasy, and though that will involve a lot of juggling of different criminal syndicates and maintaining your reputation with each different faction, that doesn’t mean you won’t be able to find the time to sit down and, say, play some cards.
The classic card game Sabacc will finally be playable in Star Wars Outlaws, as revealed by the game’s ESRB rating. Ubisoft and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora developer Massive Entertainment announced that they were working on an open-world Star Wars game back in 2021, but it wasn’t until last June’s Xbox Games showcase that fans learned what it was going to be about. Star Wars Outlaws will put players in the role of Kay Vess, an aspiring outlaw looking to make her mark on the criminal underworld by pulling a massive heist against the rising Zerek Besh organization.
Star Wars Outlaws is not out for a few more months, but as the release date slowly approaches, the game's ESRB rating summary revealed that a popular and nearly-forgotten card game is set to return as a playable mini-game.
Fans are excited to jump into this next major video game release for the Star Wars franchise. We know Star Wars Outlaws is coming this summer, and if you’re contemplating whether you should pick up a preorder, there might be one mission to convince you. That’s to at least convince you to spend more money and acquire one of the higher-tier editions of the game before its release. Unfortunately, there is already one mission locked behind a season pass, and it’s set to debut at launch.
Content surrounding one of ' most iconic villains may be locked behind a paywall. The open-world game from Ubisoft's Massive Entertainment is set to see a new character, Kay Vess, explore the criminal underworld as she attempts to build her reputation and carry out the biggest heist the Outer Rim has ever seen.
With Star Wars Outlaws, developer Massive Entertainment is looking to deliver the ultimate Star Wars scoundrel fantasy, which, of course, means protagonist Kay Vess (and her adorable companion Nix) will be crossing paths with a number of different factions, the majority of them being criminal syndicates.
From the Hutts and the Pykes to the Crimson Dawn, the Empire, and more, Star Wars Outlaws protagonist Kay Vess will be dealing with a number of different factions during the course of the game’s story, each one of them powerful and formidable in their own unique way, with a Reputation system encompassing her interactions with each of them. As Kay, your actions will impact your experience in a number of ways– including even the open world and what challenges and content it will throw your way.
Star Wars Outlaws has received an age classification from the Entertainment Software Rating Board. The timing of its ESRB rating's emergence is an encouraging sign for fans, as it indicates that Star Wars Outlaws is on course to release without any delays.
continues a controversial trend that has become more prominent in recent years. Ubisoft recently revealed more about the upcoming AAA title's story, pre-order bonuses, and special editions, with a confirmed release date of August 30, 2024.
Following the Final Shape developer stream, Bungie releases even more details on Destiny 2's upcoming Prismatic subclass including all the available abilities, fragments, and more. It was a huge week for fans of Bungie's online shooter as the studio's planned final livestream event showcased a lot of big details for Destiny 2's upcoming Final Shape expansion. Fans saw the confirmation of a new enemy faction called The Dread, brand-new exotic class armor that lets players combine perks from other exotic armor, as well as more gameplay from inside The Pale Heart zone.
Open world games are often in the habit of being larger than they need to be, particularly when they’re coming from Ubisoft, but developer Massive Entertainment continues to make assurances that it’s taking a different approach with the upcoming Star Wars Outlaws. The action-adventure title will see players exploring the Outer Rim, which, as you might imagine, will mean visiting a number of different planets and locations. Obviously, not all has been revealed on that front, but details have emerged on one particular location in a recently published Game Informer preview, and how its design prioritized density over size.
