Marketing for Star Wars Outlaws is about to kick off in a big way, with the world premiere story trailer slated to air on Tuesday, April 9 at 9 AM Pacific Time/noon Eastern Time/6 PM Central European Time.
Many fans are taking this as confirmation that the game will launch sooner rather than later. Ubisoft has historically published story trailers relatively close to the release dates, and there's also the fact that multiple countries have already rated the game, including South Korea, Brazil, Australia, and possibly the USA, given the ESRB rating spotted on the Ubisoft Store.
Now, journalist Jordan Maison has shared on Twitter that GameStop is preparing promotional materials for the opening of the Star Wars Outlaws pre-order program.
GameStop and other major retailers (including digital stores) will likely open pre-orders right after the release of the story trailer in two days.
The game, powered by Ubisoft Massive's Snowdrop Engine with NVIDIA DLSS 3 and RTX Direct Illumination/RTGi support on PC, aims to realize the first true single player open world Star Wars experience. The developers want to offer players a completely seamless transition from the cantina on a planet's surface to flying into space with the Trailbrazer, an EML 850 light freighter from the Republic era.
Space is reported to be dangerous yet ripe for opportunities. There will be intimate dogfights as well as big battles against large spaceships, but it's also a vehicle for discovery and exploration. The Star Wars feeling will also be present thanks to distinct planet profiles, each featuring unique stories, wildlife, ecosystems, and situations.
As an outlaw scoundrel, protagonist Kay Vess will encounter various jobs and favors from different characters and factions, which impact her reputation with them and allow her to unlock new equipment and abilities. In Star Wars Outlaws, players will be able to make their own choices, creating their path and reputation at a time when the seedy underworld of the galaxy was thriving. The game also includes a wanted system, where players can get wanted levels by challenging or being caught by the Empire, leading to increased resistance and forces. However, there will always be a way for players to de-escalate or escape.
Star Wars Outlaws will be released for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X.

2014’s The Crew was the first project for developer Ivory Tower, which was founded in Lyon, France, in 2007 and later acquired by Ubisoft in late 2015. While it may have been the debut game for the studio, a number of Ivory Tower’s staff formerly hailed from Lyon’s Eden Games (including Ivory Tower’s three founders) and had previous experience on the first three instalments of the V-Rally series, the PlayStation version of Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed, and the trendsetting Test Drive Unlimited. As such, there was a good deal of optimism around The Crew.
Since unveiling the eye-watering $130 Ultimate Edition of Star Wars Outlaws last week, Ubisoft has been under fire from fans furious a full-priced single-player game would even warrant a Season Pass in the first place. Worse, acquiring the Season Pass is the only way to «play the exclusive Jabba's Gambit mission at launch».
Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment are promising an expansive open world experience with the upcoming Star Wars Outlaws, which is being billed as the ultimate scoundrel fantasy, and though that will involve a lot of juggling of different criminal syndicates and maintaining your reputation with each different faction, that doesn’t mean you won’t be able to find the time to sit down and, say, play some cards.
The classic card game Sabacc will finally be playable in Star Wars Outlaws, as revealed by the game’s ESRB rating. Ubisoft and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora developer Massive Entertainment announced that they were working on an open-world Star Wars game back in 2021, but it wasn’t until last June’s Xbox Games showcase that fans learned what it was going to be about. Star Wars Outlaws will put players in the role of Kay Vess, an aspiring outlaw looking to make her mark on the criminal underworld by pulling a massive heist against the rising Zerek Besh organization.
Get your dealing hands ready, as Star Wars Outlaws will let us all participate in a round of Sabacc or two.
Fans are excited to jump into this next major video game release for the Star Wars franchise. We know Star Wars Outlaws is coming this summer, and if you’re contemplating whether you should pick up a preorder, there might be one mission to convince you. That’s to at least convince you to spend more money and acquire one of the higher-tier editions of the game before its release. Unfortunately, there is already one mission locked behind a season pass, and it’s set to debut at launch.
Content surrounding one of ' most iconic villains may be locked behind a paywall. The open-world game from Ubisoft's Massive Entertainment is set to see a new character, Kay Vess, explore the criminal underworld as she attempts to build her reputation and carry out the biggest heist the Outer Rim has ever seen.
With Star Wars Outlaws, developer Massive Entertainment is looking to deliver the ultimate Star Wars scoundrel fantasy, which, of course, means protagonist Kay Vess (and her adorable companion Nix) will be crossing paths with a number of different factions, the majority of them being criminal syndicates.
Star Wars Outlaws has received an age classification from the Entertainment Software Rating Board. The timing of its ESRB rating's emergence is an encouraging sign for fans, as it indicates that Star Wars Outlaws is on course to release without any delays.
continues a controversial trend that has become more prominent in recent years. Ubisoft recently revealed more about the upcoming AAA title's story, pre-order bonuses, and special editions, with a confirmed release date of August 30, 2024.
Open world games are often in the habit of being larger than they need to be, particularly when they’re coming from Ubisoft, but developer Massive Entertainment continues to make assurances that it’s taking a different approach with the upcoming Star Wars Outlaws. The action-adventure title will see players exploring the Outer Rim, which, as you might imagine, will mean visiting a number of different planets and locations. Obviously, not all has been revealed on that front, but details have emerged on one particular location in a recently published Game Informer preview, and how its design prioritized density over size.
