Can you believe it’s been about a year since Splatoon 3’s Expansion Pass became available for purchase? Until now, buyers have only had Inkopolis Plaza to provide value for their dollar, but on February 22, 2024, the Side Order campaign will release.
In anticipation of the new campaign, Nintendo has served up a solid slice of Side Order gameplay in the form of an explainer trailer. It dives into what the campaign entails, going deep into the main loop of its roguelite gameplay.
Inkopolis Square, the hub from Splatoon 2, is suffering from some pretty harsh coral bleaching and is devoid of color. Partnered with Pearl in drone form, Agent 8 (that’s you) must climb the Spire of Order to… fix it, I’m assuming.
You ascend the spire, floor by floor, collecting color chips that will enhance your abilities. Your goal is to climb the tower as far as you can before expiring. Then, you get points (pearls) for your collected chips and can use those to give Agent 8 a good buffing.
It’s pretty much roguelite trappings at their most basic. However, I can dig it. Splatoon has experimented with different approaches to turn its competitive focus into a single-player experience, and the typical campaign format tends to leave me a bit cold. While I’m not a huge fan of the roguelite formula, I think that, as an excuse to play by your lonesome, it can work in Side Order. Plus, I’m digging the more muted color palette that the expansion has. It really contrasts the usually bright inks of the main game.
Splatoon 3 is available on Switch. The Expansion Pass is already available, but the Side Order campaign portion of it will launch on February 22, 2024.

Fans are hopeful that expansion The Answer will come to Persona 3 Reload after dataminers discovered references to DLC.
When I reviewedSplatoon 3 in 2022, I found myself impressed by what a robust suite of content it offered at launch. It had a solid single-player campaign, great competitive multiplayer, a killer PVE mode in Salmon Run, and even a fun card minigame. All of those disparate modes meshed together perfectly to makeSplatoon 3 the kind of game you could pick away at for hundreds of hours. And with its latest DLC, called Side Order, that’s more true than ever.
Greetings, Adventurers!
Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition has revealed its next DLC. Victors and Vanquished will apparently be the remastered RTS’ first “campaign-focused” expansion, offering up more playable scenarios than any of its previous packs - many based on popular community creations. Oh, and it’s out next month.
For those of you with conflicting feelings about making calamari of your fellow Octolings and Inklings, you can rejoice as Wave 2 of the Splatoon 3 Expansion Pass, Side Order, launched today. With none of that nasty PvP business, you can focus on ethically annihilating other species.
There’s little doubt that Splatoon 3 is one of the best and most-played games on the Nintendo Switch. We can say that because Nintendo ensures that there’s something to do in the game every month, if not every day, via its fun gameplay loop and the modes you can have a blast in. However, for those who have been waiting for something more on the single-player side of things, today is your lucky day. Specifically, the “Side Order” DLC for the game has finally been released, which means you have access to a roguelike campaign that will keep you occupied for a while.
Xbox Game Pass has added Dead Island 2 to its lineup of titles available to subscribers with no announcement from Microsoft or publisher Deep Silver. Two games were expected to become available on the service on February 22, but Dead Island 2 was not one of them. However, this wouldn’t be the first time a game was added unexpectedly, as Tales of Arise was also added to Xbox Game Pass on February 20 with no prior announcement.
